Danger zone.
Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz running flight ops last week in the South China Sea is our way of saying "Ni Hao China!".
Destroyer USS Carl M. Levin delivered to the Navy yesterday by Bath Iron Works.

Dinner at neighbor's. Dogs included

Every 3-4 weeks my neighbor Gretchen has Tanya, a neighbir up the street, her kids and me over for burgers, a tradition that began when Tanya's husband died a couple of years ago. Tanya has three dogs, Tilly, Tessa and Kuma, and Gretchen has two, Stella and Frankie. They regularly run between the houses for play dates and of course are included when we have dinner @G's.

Last night after dinner they had a little training session for the dogs, which was as much fun for us as for them.

Gotta love neighbors like this :)

Two months ago, I was in Germany and Austria for ten days, visiting friends and going to Christmas Markets. On Friday, December 16, it snowed all day, and I drove in the region between Mittenwald and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, taking photos. The following day was bright and sunny, just beautiful, and I took the cable car to the top of the Zugspitze, which is Germany's highest mountain, and is marked by the golden cross placed at the peak...

Was driving past the National Nuclear Museum.
OMG! They got a Guideline Missile.
That's the SA-2 SAM Telephone Pole that was launched at us in SEA.
And this one is on a Launcher!
That ain't no Oil Well Drill Rig in the background.
That's a Replica of the tower at the Trinity Site which raised the ''Gadget' up in the air.
It's no longer with us.

Gorgeous! Is that a humble-but-spacious outhouse in the second pic? The church is interesting;has a hint of an onion dome on it. And Garmisch-Partenkirchen was the home of one of my musical heroes, Richard Strauss :D

Thanks for your kind words.

The farms in that region are dotted with outbuildings like that. I think they're used for storage of crops, or perhaps tools or equipment?

That church is in the village of Klais, and is typical of so many in Bavaria...I was struck by the artwork, which is again something you see throughout that region. Below are some other shots from that snow day drive, and photos of the artwork on the hotel where I stayed...

I was only kidding about the outhouse :D More great pics.

Really is another world, isn't it? I was talking to my gf last night about some of her travels "in a previous life" when she was a professional singer in England and she was reminiscing about choir tours to Vienna and Budapest. She said she only just made it on time to a concert in Vienna due to being "a deer in headlights", wandering around the streets!

I'm on the roam for Bald Eagles..
Then I see this guy.
Golden?
The Raptors don't sit in branches. He sitting on a big limb behind the small limbs.
Why didn't I circle for a better shot?
Big Chain Link Fence!

This was so incredible I wanted to share. So much smarter than me.

This is of our youngest adopted kid. She is adorable when she is.

I kept asking her what was all over her? "Nothing." I always wondered where the phrase caught red handed originally came from.
