My little "cutie" I just finished up! Deleted the useless fridge and sink that came with this unit and installed the smoker and chimney, much more functional.

Mike, NCR was a powerhouse in Dayton for 125 years. In HS I knew a lot of families that worked for or subcontracted to them.

The big dogs around here back then were GM/Fisher Body (Camero/Firebird), Cincinnati Milacron, P&G, Kroger, GE Aviation, Kenner Toys, Ford Transmission, etc, etc. You could easily throw a dart and hit someone that was connected to those giants.

The times, they are a changin'.
Brings me back. My Dad had that exact register in his bakery. He died in 1978 and do did the bakery. Now hardly anyone pays cash anymore, especially during covid

I can remember eating there in NYC when I was kid.

What a treat! My grandma took me to the automat all the time when we visited her in Manhattan. I think the one we went to was called Horn and Hardart. There was another one called Schrafft's ( not sure if the spelling- haven't thought of these done the' 50's. It was great putting your coins in, opening the little door and taking out a yummy treat. I felt really independent picking out my own lunch one plate at a time. Happy Memories! My grandma was so much fun to be with[emoji177][emoji177]

Nice carry on. Going to the airport?
Seriously, what is the the little key looking thing under the Luger in the upper left corner?

It's a disassembly screwdriver for the firing pin and a slipover thumb assist for the knob on the magazine when loading it - a "combination tool" that was originally included in a pouch in most issue holsters.

Here's another view of that 1936 S/42 (Mauser) Luger and the tool. The round hole in the tool slips over the knob on the magazine when loading it.

Late night visitor

My neighbour had a number of bear attacks on her llamas & alpacas last fall- lost 4 alpacas (now down to 11) and several others in the area lost goats. Normally we don't have any problem with the bears but every few years we get some real carnivores and they wreak havoc. I buried 6 animals last fall with my excavator.

Conservation came and trapped one, which they put down and did an autopsy on, and it had been in "omnivorous mode." But there was one est. 300-lb. fella that was never caught. I got a shot at it on a rainy night but only temporarily scared it off; it came back and killed her fourth animal :( It has been seen in the area and is thought to be responsible for a few other critters this spring. She has had new, strong fencing put in and is in the process of replacing the electrification.

I put a trail camera at the back corner of her property a few days ago and it looks like this big fella might be "the one", although he hasn't breached any of the fences or shown particular interest in her animals as far as we know. I installed 4 CCTV cameras on her studio/barn and none has shown any potential intruders at the fences.

Neighbour's kid got a pic of the big guy padding across their field this morning. (He was about 75 yds. away with a 210mm lens) There's a bog full of skunk cabbage a bit further on so maybe he was headed for a bit of salad.

EDIT: Seems the pic didn't upload. Here's the big boy in all his glory :)
