Random Object Photographs

Just a few random objects, abstracts.

Im enjoying this forum because it combines the two things I love, shooting and photography. Great folks too!

A note to the photography buffs here, all the B&W I shoot is film not digital. Other than the nature and food images the rest of the color images are film. I would have continued shooting film in my professional work but it became impractical because of time constraints and cost. Oh how I longed for the good old days!

This is a photo I took in Bisbee AZ's old Evergreen Cemetery, where my maternal grandparents are buried. The cemetery is well over 150 years old.

By the style of the headstone, this unknown soldier was probably a Spanish-American War veteran. The locals keep his grave decorated pretty much in perpetuity. Gone, but not forgotten. Cause of death also unknown - could have been a Spanish bullet, yellow fever, or ?

Been to Bisbee many times and made photos in that cemetery. My wife and I almost retired there. We were looking at a small ranch in sight of the border. Glad we didn’t!!!

The photo of the copper plate is actually a detail of the copper door at the old Bisbee Bank.

Edit: I added a few more photos from Bisbee. The soapbox derby racer is the 4th of July race through town.

I believe it was the Butchart Gardens.. what a place!
Could be. "Famous in spades"! My mum used to go there many years ago when she went to visit her childhood best friend in Victoria.

Skunk update

attachment.php

She called the local Humane Society and they said if she could trap them they'd take them, but otherwise one solution would be to put some ammonia on a cloth and put it near the den entrance, which would encourage them to move on.

This she did, and kept the cats in at night. It appears that two have abandoned ship but when I talked to her this morning she said, "Well, I'm sitting out here with three cats and my pet skunk." Apparently the cats (her two mega-moggies and the black cat that visits from next door) are showing no interest and the skunk just waddled past them. One big happy family, at least so far. She's not too keen to trap the remaining one and get her car "skunkified" during the 10 mile trip to the Humane Society, but I could put it in the back of my pickup when I drive down on Thursday.
