One of the BIL’s is into Bonzai trees. His backyard has a lot of them.

I am attracted to the bonsai look and have spent hours studying
types of tiny trees and techniques. So far I've found too many
other things to keep me busy.

Your brother-in-law must not live in a windy place. I can't imagine
his attractive arrangement of bonsai trees surviving Wyoming's winds.
