Me and My Shadows - March, 2018

This a a tropical orb weaver about 2 inches across. It has been making a web across our front doorway every night for the last 10 days or so. I have been going out the side door to get the paper every morning.

That's a nice shot. I've had garden spiders build their webs between two holly bushes on either side of my little front porch, and the webs span the front porch, blocking the front door. They span a distance of just short of six feet.

I go out of my way not to disturb them...the webs are beautiful, and the spiders (females) are so vividly marked.

Nature's wonders are all around us if we only take the time to look and observe.

There's a huge old maple tree behind my house.
A big branch came down in a windstorm a couple weeks ago.

This is the tree. It's hard to tell in the picture but the trunk is 5 1/2 feet across.

Here's the branch that broke off.

Here is the second or third block that came off the butt end of the broken branch.
For size reference, my chainsaw has a 20" bar on it.

The most beautiful movie theater I was ever in, Bronx NY. Movie theater, not concert hall.
I grew up 3 blocks away from"the Paradise" and enjoyed many weekends at the movies, first with parents, then friends, then my boyfriend who became my husband of 45 years. That was the most beautiful movie theater I have ever been to. Thanks for posting!

Many happy afternoons spent there.. Are you sure we weren't neighbors growing up in the Bronx in the 50's and 60's? Great pics! Thanks for posting!

Bigwheelzip grew up in Bensnhurst. I know, Brooklyn. Well for me that's close. You guys were probably shooting at each other.

Best Regards, Les
