I've heard about American City but never been there.

Wish I'd had a digital camera back then. I have very few pictures from all the ghost towns we visited. :(

The book I have was written by R. Brown. It took us a lot of amazing places.

This was one of our favorite places t go, Holy Cross City.

This was back before the Army Corp of Engineers filled in the mud bog just prior to the city and before the town was blocked off. We camped in the city a few times. It was an awesome road from Gold Gulch to Holy Cross.
That was a neat little book.Id seen a copy as a kid in the 60s and bought my own about ten years later and I was off lol.It was a lot of fun tracking those towns down

A busted up Bell 407 helo on the back deck of our crewboat. This helo had taken off from our rig and flew over to a platform around 15-20 miles away and dropped off some personnel. When he was taking off, he lost his engine and autorotated to the sea. Everyone got out with no injuries, but they tore the helo up when they were loading it on the boat to bring back to the bank and ripped the tail boom off. The doors came off when they evacuated the helo in the water.

At the top of Li Ming butte (seen to the right in the photo in post #1516 and also here: https://exploreclimbrepeat.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/liming-intro-picture-copy.jpg) in the far northwest of Yunnan Province, China, only a few clicks from Tibet, there is the sandstone formation shown here:

The local Lisu people refer to this as "1,000 turtles praying to the sun," or, "the 1,000 turtle mountain." To get there, you climb about 2,700 steps carved with wide treads and low risers directly into the red sandstone that comprises this butte. And, if you look closely at the left mid-ground in the photo above, you'll see an empty bottle of Tsing-tao beer left there by some total jerk.

I thought turtle the second I scrolled upon the picture.Way cool.

I have a very strong dislike for litterbugs, a very strong dislike.
I ride my ATV a lot - we have 1000's of miles of trails here and this is how I come home after every ride.

Mom & Dad

Here's a picture of my mom and dad on their 50th wedding anniversary. He died two years ago. I miss him.

Mom told me recently what his last words were to her after over 60 years of marriage. "I thought after all these years that you'd learn to cook by now." She had burnt a roast again. She would often burn our meals while growing up. He'd call mom's cooking "burnt offerings". I come from a great family.

Feeding the seagulls.

Gulls are my favorite birds.

There. I said it.

I told my wife she's like a seagull. She asked me what I meant, so I told her, "You're beautiful, you're intelligent, you're entertaining, and you have the ability to annoy the **** out of people"! For some reason, she didn't like that last part.

Here's one of my "feeding the seagull" photos. They are extremely agile!
