Being that I was a firefighter and a licensed boiler operator I always wanted to run a head of steam on one of these and make it pump, and they really could pump! ;)

The days of brass balls and leather lungs!

Artist Georgia Okeefe is a really big deal here in NM.
She lived for a long time at the Ghost Ranch.
Then she bought a house at Abiquiu.
She's got a museum in Santa Fe and a school named for her near my house in Albuquerque.
Peole are always asking me- what's your GO picture?
Which one? We want to know, now!
Ok. You asked for it

Wow! That is quite a shot to get! Now we all need to know the story behind it. :D

Georgia on my mind-
Did you notice the date on the license plate?
That pic was shot in 1944 at the Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, NM.
I don't particularly care for her paintings, so when I'm asked
What is your fav GO painting (picture) this one is always my answer.

Pilgrim, I did not notice the date so thank you for pointing that out (I'm in need of some reading glasses) and for the references as to where it was taken. Do you know who the driver is of the motorcycle? That really is an amazing little bit of history there. I am sure that picture would be worth some money.

I saw a G.O. visiting exhibit at the Crocker museum here in Sacramento. Took my mom before she got ill. We enjoyed the exhibit and it included some photos of her and Ansel Adams in Yosemite and other people and places. I bet your "carefree" picture would be a perfect match for such an exhibit. have you ever checked into selling prints? It really is a cool picture and quite special. Thank you for sharing with us!

I don't own the GO picture!
You can buy prints, I have come close several times to buying one.
That's painter Maurice Grosser on the Hog.
Here's a brief explanation-
“Georgia O’Keeffe hitching a ride to Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch, 1944″ AKA ”Women Who Rode Away.” –Image by Maria Chabot @Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. The painter, Maurice Grosser, visited his friend O’Keeffe’s ranch in 1944. Maria Chabot photographed O’Keeffe and Grosser on his 1938 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead. It’s an amazing image that celebrates denim, machine, and the joy of the open road. That look on O’Keeffe’s face says it all.

Pilgrim, thank you for clarifying. I was wondering because that WAS 73 years ago so it didn't quite add up. :o It is an amazing picture for sure and also if you put it in the context that WWII had not ended yet. When the picture was taken Maurice was 41 and O'Keef was 57! They look so young! She certainly was a "free spirit" and ahead of her time not only in taking art in a different direction but also how she lived her life. Indeed, when I “googled” Maurice Grosser to see who he was this picture popped up as one of the first images. Thank you for this little art and history lesson. :)

I did take this one-
It's a narrow gauge locomotive in Antonito, CO.
What makes it unique is it was once owned by a very famous person!
Successful in a number of areas, I especially like the songs he wrote.

Some pics from Great Britain:

Interesting brick work on chimneys. This is part of a palace that had maybe many of these. The palace is shown below.

The home of Shakespeare's in-laws. The roof is thatch, which is considered a fire hazard and thus results in higher premiums.

A building in the fog of Edinburgh Scotland.

Taken aboard the Queen's yacht. Like her, I always take my Rolls Royce with me when traveling....NOT! :)

Woolly cow in Scotland.

The lengthy word on this building, which is the local post office, is the name of the village. How would you like to have that for a return address?

Sign at a street vendor. Must have something to do with the metric system.

A pair of Northern Cardinals are nesting behind my house this year. They discovered the mirrors on my wife's Equinox and spent the better part of two afternoons trying to figure out where the bird they saw in the mirror went when the looked at the back side. The female cardinal seemed particularly interested in the reflection she saw of herself in the 180 degree blind spot mirror.

Mama Cardinal decided to serenade me from atop the mirror.

Then the Song Sparrow that lives in our holly bush dropped by to see what was going on.
