Random Object Photographs

There was a grocery store/butcher shop down on the corner from my Grandparent's house. It was in the basement of the owner's house. It is now a deli. Have many fond memories of Jimmy Crockett's store!!

Mr. Toad

No longer the Handsome Prince.

He was once admired by men, loved by women, but just look at him now. Reduced to hopping around in the dirt, eating bugs. Trying to avoid getting stepped on or eaten by big dogs. Or chopped into pieces by lawn mowers.

How could this have happened?

I upgraded my TV yesterday from a Panasonic back to a Sony.
The sound quality and other features are soo much better than the Panasonic.

I also got to enjoy my new Diana Krall live concerts on my way back home last night too. :)

There was a tiny brick grocery store we would walk to 7-8 blocks from my house that closed around 1960 and (I think) became someone’s home.4-5 years ago the mayor (retired contractor) bought it, built a nice addition at the back and it became a restaurant. The entry and bar are the old store.

Looks like it might be a nice little place to grab a bite and a couple of cold ones. You ever go there?

By now you have probably heard of the SUV that tried to cross the Atlantic from Myrtle Beach during the hurricane.
The most famous SUV in America since the white Bronco. :D

While at the D-Day beaches in Normandy France recently, at the German Longues-sur-Mer battery, I stuck my camera in a 6 inch gun barrel and snapped a photo. Looking at it later, I thought the rifling worthy of a "Random" posting.

Yesterday I visited the Tillamook (yes, where they make the cheese and ice cream) Air Museum and took these photos.

This is Hangar "B", the largest clear-span wooden structure in the world according to Wiki. It is 1072 feet long, 296 feet wide, 192 feet tall, and was one of two used to house blimps during WW2. Hangar "A" burned down in 1992.

As far as air museums go, it was unimpressive, but the building was pretty cool.

One of the more interesting displays was the plane (not actual) that John Denver was flying when he was killed, and has the explanation for the crash.
