This is the third morning in a row The Kid (Smudge) has gone out for breakfast, although he comes indoors to eat it. To his credit, he does leave a very clean plate.... er... carpet.

Garden genetics

My biologist/geneticist gf grows a lot of food in her garden, much of it in raised beds. I previously posted (#6775) one of her "tactical zucchini." She also grows lemon cucumbers in the same bed and are producing "zucchumbers." (As yet untasted.)

You are a lucky guy. I wish my cats would just eat off the rug. Instead, my cats stand on the hardwood at the edge of the rug, lean as faaarrrrrr forward as they can, stretching their necks out as far as possible over the rug, and then barf their guts out on the rug. Once in a while, I catch them setting up and spin them around facing the other way, but they have a special gift for doing it when I'm not around or asleep. I usually discover their 'work' walking barefoot in the dark while investigating that strange sound that woke me up. It's so special.

The day I took that pic, he did it twice. "Nimrod, the Mighty Hunter"!

Smudge does occas. upchuck in the house but rarely at night and if so, I pre-arm myself with a flashlight! Tactile Discovery of Partly-Digested Rodent is pretty off-putting. However, when he does so it is usually on the carpet, not the hardwood floor :(

He usually brings his prizes in dead - to show off his hunting prowess (and my lack thereof) and usually eats them. On occasion he'll bring in a live mouse, which despite my ernest explanations, does not seem to be able to accept that I am its ONLY hope of a safe return to the wild if it will just let me catch it.
