The Spanish built a lot of interesting things here in the SW.
Here in NM they built the Salt Missions.
These are three rather large Churches East of most early settlements which tended to be near the Rio Grande.
At that time they were the locations of three large Native Towns. Now the Indians are gone, and these structures stand in disrepair basically out in the middle of nowhere.
