Fall has come early. Went out to check the mailbox and found an apple on the ground. My three apple trees are late-ripening, usually mid-late September. But these are ready now No idea what kind they are but they're firm and slightly tart. I had an intimation of fall's arrival a few days ago. Have had a lot of black squirrels scampering about and saw one with a nut in its mouth.

Uh oh, Rusty's trying to start another caliber war...

Perhaps, but maybe "9mm" was just the size of the primer of whatever was fired at that tree.

This is the one I have been calling Momma Kitty, lazing on top of the cathouse I made. She is PeeBee's mother, and grandmother to the two recent kittens that PeeBee had. Those kittens are 5 to 6 weeks old now and are starting to get out and about with their mother. These pictures are of one of them in the next door neighbor's back yard. The other was in there as well, but staying well hidden.
