Retired RCMP named Bob, 30+ years, came to our final dinner. He needed permission from up above to wear his old uniform. Interesting fellow who gave us the history of the RCMP and described his attire from head to toe. No firearm.
He was one of the Queens escorts when she came to Canada.

In the March-April 1986 of American Handgunner, Cameron Hopkins did an article on The Guns of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, giving an overview history and visiting the training centre in Regina Saskatchewan and talking with firearms trainer Sgt. Bill Robertson.

A few years ago I was chatting with a recently-retired RCMP officer here who said when they transitioned from the Model 10 to the 5946, he wanted to buy his old service revolver, but it was not allowed, so he had to buy a new Model 10. Their Model 10s had odd 5" barrels. He may have had to buy a 6" as due to the idiotic rewrite of the Firearms Act in the mid 90's, anything with a barrel less than 106 mm (4.17") was now deemed Prohibited (Category 12.6) so unless he had a suitable licence and could find a used one he was SOL.

When I posted pics recently of PeeBee's kittens I mostly got KittenA. Earlier today I got a surprise picture of KittenB from about 4 feet. Startled the little one by looking over the gate. She headed for the foliage to hide but stopped long enough to look back and give me a razzberry. A few minutes ago I saw the two playing in the back yard near the gate. As soon as they heard my camera and saw me they headed for the bushes. Managed to get one good shot though. The eyes are starting to lighten up from the dark blue infant coloring.

Anyone know where I can get a kevlar (or "consumable") sofa covering? ")

Daughter has to keep grandson's cat as no pets in the house he and his wife rent. Crazy cat peed on and tore up 200 year old sofa( put together with wood dowels) that came from my parents house. Regardless that cat would have been " gone". Crazy cat is now an outside cat. Sadly their cool cat Gus is diabetics.

Daughter has to keep grandson's cat as no pets in the house he and his wife rent. Crazy cat peed on and tore up 200 year old sofa( put together with wood dowels) that came from my parents house. Regardless that cat would have been " gone". Crazy cat is now an outside cat. Sadly their cool cat Gus is diabetics.

That certainly puts my situation in perspective. He only seems to be interested in that one arm. I need to replace the couch anyway and I think I'll also pick up some thick terry bath towels from GoodWill or Value Village.
