Got into an argument with an acquaintance of mine tonight that I probably should have avoided.
Apparently my buddy was in a fast food restaurant today and noticed another patron carrying a gun. I didn't hear the whole story but the buddy says the guy was sitting at the table with the gun in his pocket and the butt or part of the butt sticking out. The buddy tells us that he knew the guy was carrying an illegally concealed weapon and that's where the argument started.
I pointed out to this guy that if he could see the butt of the gun then it (by definition) wasn't concealed. He goes off on some rant that the law stipulates that the weapon must be fully visible.
The law stipulates no such thing, CRS 18-12-105 says a person commits a class 2 misdemeanor if such person knowingly and unlawfully: Carries a firearm concealed on or about his or her person COCODE.
The buddy went up to the manager and raised hell and demanded that she cal the police. Then he "surveilled" the guy until he left the restaurant.
A couple months back this guy got all hot and bothered because someone brought his kids to church in car with out child safety seats.
Ok I get it, not having safety seats is bad but this clown was about to go out and put a "Citizen's arrest" on the guy.
I'm not the only one that notices the problem because someone else was asking him tonight how he always seems to be around when these situations arise. I didn't hear his answer.
It seems that there is a certain type of citizen permit holder that sees the permit as some kind of junior auxiliary police badge. I actually read a thread on THR years ago where the poster said that having a permit made us defacto law enforcement officers.
I'm sorry but people like that annoy me I don't know that it actually is the permit that makes him such a busybody or he just happens to be a busybody who got a CHP but I ma certain one day he going to bite off far more than he can chew and either get himself killed or sued
