Red dot for 629-2 Recommendations please

Just came into an excellent fluted 629-2 with blued scope rings that fit on the slotted rib of the barrel. Can anyone recommend a tried and true and durable red dot "tube" for this model? Or, a holographic sight? I can afford reasonable products but not expend dollars for super high end. I'd like to purchase a durable sight less than $400. Thanks in advance for your opinion and time. A company called Ultradot makes a 1-inch dot tube sight. Very durable on magnum revolvers. Excellent warranty. Used in a lot of competitions by gun gamers. IINM they have models that retail under $200.

A M629-2 is not normally drilled and tapped under the rear sight, like newer guns. You have the model with the "broached" barrel to accept the Millet style rings? If so, and you have the rings, hang on to them because they're rarer than hen's teeth and near impossible to find.

Leupold or Burris pistol scopes will stand up to 44 mag recoil or the Ultradot based on my personal experience. Your rings and the revolver have equal value, because the rings are Ultimate Unobtainium.

I have had good luck with the ultra dots.



I took that off the Ruger and put it on a Smith.


And bought one that matches the Ruger


I also put this Optima 2000 on this 45 and it has been good for thousands of rounds

Millett type rings; mine are blue for what ever reason. The 629-2 is stainless. I may go with the Ultra Dot noted above and below. These are 1" rings with a Smith and Wesson instruction booklet on mounting the rings. The trapazoid type of cuts are under the barrel rings and are identical to other photos of the same model. I have the matching box. tkdguy

This is my 8 3/8-inch M586-3. I haven't scoped it yet. I'm thinking maybe a magnified optic, and use it for ammo/reloading development.
