Remington R-51

I bought one for my Dad last month. He is a remmington guy. He loves his R1. The R51 seems well made & feels good in hand. It was the first one in at our LGS, & I picked it up for $375.

I finally saw one at a gun show yesterday. I've been wanting to get one in my hand because I really liked the idea and I'm a Remington fan. However as soon as I picked it up I thought nope, not for me. Just didn't feel right. Dadgummit, I really wanted to like this gun, but it didn't happen. :(

remington just announced a sorta total recall. announcement admitted serious manufacturing deficiencies. also stated essentially, "if you like your gun, you can keep it. if not, send it back and you will get a new one manufactured under better quality control."

just might take another look when i see an LGS declare they have one of the "new ones".

cheers,

I got to handle and play with a used one at a LGS last week. Felt nice in the hand, when I racked the slide back, I saw it was going to bite my fat hand. Felt weird racking back, too. Don't minds the looks, weight or size of it, but slide bite will keep me away from it. I get slide bite with Glocks normally as well, but the new Gen 4's with the beavertail installed are good.
