I'm approaching 5,000 rounds (and lots of dry firing) through my M&P 9mm Pro, and I haven't had any major issues with it, but I figured I'd order a recoil spring to have on hand when the time comes.

I ordered it and opened the package to find a non-captive spring, and I need a new rod to hold it. Shame on me, I barely read the listing!

Now I'm back on the Internet trying to find a replacement captive spring, and I'm having trouble finding one to buy. Surely someone must sell them, but my googling has only turned up more non-captive springs.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a stock (16lb I believe) captive recoil spring? :)

If you call/email S&W CS, they may send you one for free, or sell you one.

Embrace the non-captive recoil spring and guide rod. It makes no difference when you're shooting, and you can experiment with different recoil spring weights.

I read the captive recoil guide rods with the hex end (muzzle end) can just be unscrewed but will need to be put in a vise as they were prob factory loctited.

Everyone seems to be sold out of oem captive replacements but they're $5-7. Or you can overpay at like $15-20 on ebay.

This is where I buy mine. Welcome to B&B Enterprise Jacksonville, FL The place is Carver Customs here in Jacksonville, Fl and great people to deal with.

Thanks! Ordered this A.M. from Carver and he has shipped already - will post on product quality after testing.
