A couple of weeks ago, a homeowner was forced to shoot two home invaders at 0500 in the morning. He heard them breaking in and confronted them both with a 12 gauge as they entered the kitchen area of his home. One of the intruders was armed with an AR15, and the home owner took a round to the chin while dropping one of the bad guys and severely wounding the other. Homeowner will survive, the second bad guy is iffy on survival. The homeowner is not a gangster. He is a decent guy with a good job, and neighbors say they all like him.
Flash forward to the other day. A caravan of 4 cars was spotted slowly cruising by his home, when one of them opened up and shot his house full of holes. Neighbors vehicles were also hit. Homeowner was still in the hospital at the time. Police have no suspects at this time.
So while we all applaud the homeowners actions, it seems like the bad guys are trying to send a message: don't resist.
Or, it's just another bad guy that's pissed off at losing one (or two) of his scumbag buddies. I'm concerned that if this type of thing continues, homeowners will be too afraid to take action. Sort of like being afraid to testify in a trial.
Your thoughts??
EVERY bully in the history of mankind has thought that he could intimidate people into submission. That's why they're bullies. Take your pick, from a Neanderthal stealing another Neanderthal's game to Hitler stealing Czechoslovakia.
Everybody has a choice in life: free man or slave.
If you allow somebody to intimidate you to the point where you won't even defend yourself, you become their PROPERTY, a SLAVE.
Rather than bend down and lick the hand wielding the whip, the neighbors need to band together and help defend each other. Law and simple physics say that the police won't do it.
Back in the heyday of FidoNet, a guy I knew told the story of a quiet Mexican neighborhood somewhere in the southwest. Some gangbangers decided to shoot up somebody's house, who apparently had no gang affiliation at all (probable mistaken identity). The house was on a street in a cul de sac. The assailants made the mistake of shooting on their way in, rather than on the way out. They took some return fire as they headed toward the cul de sac, but by the time they turned around, the entire neighborhood knew what was going on and literally reenacted the bus scene from "Gauntlet". The occupants of the vehicle were literally shot to pieces. At some point the car caught on fire from a ruptured fuel line. The fire department and police were called... after the car and the gunmen were burnt to a crisp.
The result? No more drivebys in that neighborhood.
People in places like Syria, Mexico and New York City live like scared rabbits stalked by coyotes. Why? Because they know that the "authorities" can't and won't "protect" them, and they aren't allowed to protect themselves.
If you live some place where you don't have government enforced "dhimmi" status, why on earth would you VOLUNTARILY adopt it for yourself?
You're going to die, no matter WHAT you do. The question is how you're going to LIVE, as a free man or a slave.
