Republican Representative Hill has introduced a bill that seeks to revoke all of the gun control laws enacted in the wake of the Parkland school shooting--banning 18-20 year olds from buying guns, red flag laws, etc. No doubt it will be an uphill battle, but there is hope.

I believe you're referring to Mike Hill (R), who recently won election to the Florida House of Representatives, and who represents the 1st District.

Quoting from The Hill: "In a statement, Hill told NBC News that he is seeking to repeal major parts of the bill because he took a 'solemn oath to support, protect and defend the U.S. Constitution.'

'The referenced Act violates the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,' Hill said. 'Therefore, I am obligated and duty bound by my oath to file legislation to repeal those measures in the Act that infringe upon the Second Amendment to the US Constitution.'"

UPDATE: 1/15/2019

The bill is Florida HB 175. It was filed on January 7, 2019. So far, no action has been taken on it, it has not gone to any committee yet.

The bill also seeks to eliminate state ERPO laws and to re-establish the legality of bump stocks.

I'll give Rep. Hill credit...he's going for the whole pot with this one.

Latest News on HB175

Florida House Bill 175, was referred to the Criminal Justice Subcommittee; Justice Appropriations Subcommittee; Judiciary Committee on January 16, 2019.

This doesn't seem to be getting a lot of notice from forum members, especially those who live in Florida.

If I lived in Florida, I'd be calling, e-mailing, and writing my rep to express my support for this bill. The bill may not have much of a chance of passing, but voter/gun owner apathy sure isn't going to help it any.

This is a very important bill for Florida gun owners. It would effectively negate any type of "Red Flag Law", plus remove the restriction of having to be 21-years-old in order to purchase a firearm...just to mention two of the bill's provisions.

But maybe Florida voters/gun owners just don't care any more, who knows?

Florida House Bill 175,

Can't speak for others, but my representative knows my feelings on this bill. Fortunately, my representative voted against the bill that enacted these restrictions last year.

We need to get behind this bill. Contact your representative.

I’ve lived in Florida almost 40 years and we’re moving more left as more and more northern libs relocate here. The three large southeast counties are really bad. I’m not sure how long we can hold on to the good and reasonable atmosphere we once enjoyed as long as the “invasion “ rolls on. Sad as they are trying every day to convert us to a NY, CA, IL ,MD etc. They flock here to escape their high taxes, weather et al but unfortunately their liberal ideology comes with them.

The opposition always goes for the "whole pot" every time, every year, every legislative session. Only the lawful firearms owners and conservative legislators are expected to compromise. It is way past the time to start answering unreasonable demands with very realistic responses.

Somewhere around 19,000 per month move to Florida; mostly from the NE and Midwest.

UPDATE: March 9, 2019

On February 25, 2019, HB 175 was withdrawn from the Criminal Justice Subcommittee; Justice Appropriations Subcommittee; Judiciary Committee...and withdrawn (no reason given) prior to introduction.

Now, on March 5, 2019, Rep. Hill filed a bill similar to HB 175.

HB 6073 seeks the same remedies, and after filing was referred to the Criminal Justice Subcommittee; Justice Appropriations Subcommittee; Judiciary Committe on March 8, 2019.

Gotta give Rep. Hill credit...he doesn't give up easily; just keeps pluggin' away.
