RUGER???

I go there once in a while, but daily here. I do have a SS Single Six convertible, and my wife has a 10/22 she won't let me play with, along with her SS Bearcat. In the shop I have a SS grip frame, for a Vaquero or Single Six which, is waiting for a frame and barrel to become a 3 1/2 fun gun.

For some reason I started getting an email every day about the subjects discussed on the the Ruger Forum from the day before.,....
Me, too, although I rarely go there and hadn't visited for quite a while. Apparently I was getting those messages because I had subscribed but AFAIK I had never got one in the past. I unsubscribed.

I have a few Rugers- an SR9, SR45, SP101 .357 and a GP100 .357. I did some work on the internals on the .357s, a bit of polishing and installing trigger & hammer shims and the triggers are very good now, esp. the GP100, which is really nice :)

It's been updated with new software format twice in the last several months. There were some glitches with the new updates for a few days but it's back to normal now and it's about the same as always. I didn't have to change anything with the change.

Ruger??? Well, my two cents. No argument here, older Smith & Wesson revolvers are finely crafted firearms for sure. But I'm not really sold on the newer stuff, especially after the "P&R" era. I have a nice little pile of older Smiths that I truly love. BUT....I've been a lifelong handgun hunter, and there's rarely anything but a Ruger along for the hunt. Shot my first hangun deer with a 44 Super Blackhawk in '78 or '79. But over the years the amazing versatility of the 45 Colt has become my go-to for, well, almost everything. Loads of my heavy 335gr cast bullet over a cup of H110 drop big game like a sledgehammer, or a 200gr swc over a pinch of Red Dot entertains my Granddaughter for hours shooting at swinger silhouette targets. For a super strong, superbly accurate, durable, and affordable tool of a hunting revolver, the Ruger Blackhawk is the hands down winner, no contest. I've shot perfectly safe, cases drop right out of the cylinder, loads through my two 45 Blackhawks that would likely wreck an N frame. Pictured are my standard 45LC Blackhawk, my 45 year old 44 Super Blackhawk (I shot out the original barrel, rebarreled it with the tapered octagon it's wearing) and my newly acquired, pretty rare, Super Blackhawk Hunter in 45LC.

I have 13 Rugers, 4 of the model 77s , 2 old Army revolvers, a mini 14, a 10-22, 3 22 semi auto pistols, a Bearcat and one off their 1911s.

They all work shoot fine, But they are just not very interesting.

I got a 2021 Blackhawk in November last year. Was trying to find answers to correct stocks for it. Had nothing but trouble with the Forum! Haven't been back since. Not too many times have I missed my daily visit here. Bob

I am on the Ruger.Net forum as much as on here. I like it, it is civilized and well moderated.
As to firearms I'm all over the board. I've been a S&W fan since a teenager but I'm also a hunter and use several brands of long guns, shotguns, etc., so I belong to several forums.

Haven't been to that forum in a while, but have a couple Rugers I like a lot. My favorite is this Lipsey Gp100 in .327, good trigger right out of the box. Ruger triggers are very easy to improve if needed. I also have a GP100 .22 that is a nice gun.

I take it that you bought this gun new. I hope so! I traded in the exact gun back in pre-Christmas 2020. I put a lighter hammer spring in it, but I had to send it back for minor problems twice, before I messed with it, but it had a great trigger and was a tack driver. Since I had another GP100 .327 FM and I saw a real nice 629-6 at the store, I showed them what I had to trade...take your pick & gimme your best! He instantly took the Lipsey 5" and that's when I had a "dammit" moment. I got a good deal and I'm sure he got me better! We were both happy. My GP100 6" in .327FM is a great gun, but that dang Lipsey was a nice gun!
As far as Ruger, that's my EDC and I have never had any problems with it. (Not the GP...EC9s) The GP100 in .327FM is like shooting a .22 with a little kick.

I joined Ruger forum years ago... I collect 3 screw Rugers and flat-tops, along with 5 screw Smiths. One day I was asked to relog in and haven't been able to get aboard for over a year no matter what I do.

Hmmmm, hadn't been there for awhile, and the .com forum came back "not found". I tried .net and got the main page but when tried to sign in I was not recognized. Guess when I have time I'll have to go back and re-establish myself. I only go there occasionally, and curious as the new pain page looks totally refurbished.

I have several Rugers, including the LCP2 I frequently carry.

I go on the Ruger Forum every once in awhile. Not much interests me there, so I don't go often. The only gun forum I go to daily is here, and the lounge here is the only non-gun forum I view.

I have an equal number of Smiths as Rugers. I hunt with the Rugers with Ruger-only loads, and I target shoot with the Smiths.

I have a few old classic Rugers, and many more classic Pre-number Smiths. My newest Smith is a 1988. ALL my newer purchases have been Rugers.

I'm happy to say that I have never had to send a firearm back to the factory. Well, that's not true either. I once had a Mossberg .22 rifle that went back 4 times, and then I dumped it.

Rugerforum.com just got their entire format retooled and back up and running. Folks that had not been able to log on for quite awhile can now do so. Since my hobby is custom single actions and Rugers for the backbone of most of the custom single action revolver jobs I go there frequently. Never been in the political section but I bet it is like any other forum with a political section, full of all kinds of folks. There are a good number of people that are as helpful at answering questions as there are here.

The only Ruger I own is a 3" GP100. I bought it because it was a deal I could not refuse and there's just something about a 3" barrel on a revolver. Very nice gun too but my big revolver weakness is pinned K frames. I haven't been to their forum for years.

SORRY

I had NO idea a my simple question would cause such a uproar. When I went to Ruger.com I got the message 'not found' 404 - no offense was meant to anyone.I would be curious as to why when going to ANY website. I am think some folks have too much time on their hands. if it is that much of a problem for some to understand, then delete it.

Best,
J R

I didn't think there was an uproar. Certainly I personally wasn't offended.

What your thread did do, however, was get me to go over there just to look around. OMG, I couldn't get in. It didn't recognize my email, or password, but then it did and still wouldn't let me log in.

In any event, I emailed the webmaster and he got me straightened out.

So, thanks for starting the thread because when I finally DID get in I found something that interested me.
