Ruger??? Well, my two cents. No argument here, older Smith & Wesson revolvers are finely crafted firearms for sure. But I'm not really sold on the newer stuff, especially after the "P&R" era. I have a nice little pile of older Smiths that I truly love. BUT....I've been a lifelong handgun hunter, and there's rarely anything but a Ruger along for the hunt. Shot my first hangun deer with a 44 Super Blackhawk in '78 or '79. But over the years the amazing versatility of the 45 Colt has become my go-to for, well, almost everything. Loads of my heavy 335gr cast bullet over a cup of H110 drop big game like a sledgehammer, or a 200gr swc over a pinch of Red Dot entertains my Granddaughter for hours shooting at swinger silhouette targets. For a super strong, superbly accurate, durable, and affordable tool of a hunting revolver, the Ruger Blackhawk is the hands down winner, no contest. I've shot perfectly safe, cases drop right out of the cylinder, loads through my two 45 Blackhawks that would likely wreck an N frame. Pictured are my standard 45LC Blackhawk, my 45 year old 44 Super Blackhawk (I shot out the original barrel, rebarreled it with the tapered octagon it's wearing) and my newly acquired, pretty rare, Super Blackhawk Hunter in 45LC.
