Can you help me pick one....
I'm a lover of S&W also Sig guns.
I came across this Sig today and my LGS lowered the price to $1200 -Sig P226 -9mm elite w/rose grip.
I had been looking at the S&W 1911 E or Pro model. It doesn't matter to me 1911 or semi. Both gun i have held and both are great. Price- about the same. The SW -pro gun i can't find and they are about $200 more. Can you pick one and tell me why.
Sig P226 Elite
S&W 1911 E
S&W 1911 Pro

Either smith. Why, because it's a smith. Own two and both are great guns. Best of luck.

I would also say either of the Smith 1911's. I recently traded my Sig P220 toward a Smith e-series 1911 commander size. For me the 1911 is just more comfortable feeling.

Either S&W. :)
Because Sig Sauer customer service is an oxymoron.

So true. I was on the phone with Sig last week and the guy was a xxxhole.
You would think they would put some time into customer service. I haven't pick my gun yet but the service i get from S&W vs Sig. Night vs day.

I can't comment on Sig customer service.....because I have never had to use them..............

I love my s&w1911sc

The Sig looks great but I've never held or shot one...so I'll just say I love my Smith 1911's.:) I kind of like the CT grips on the bobtail.

Nocents,

Response was meant in jest. I didn't intend to offend, my bad. And yes I get, and appreciate your point. :)

Colt gold cup national match if you want a 1200 dollar 1911

I do not like full size railed sigs and you can get 229s or 228s sans rail for a lot less than that sig which is not worth that much IMO. The e series smiths do look nice though so it is ultimately your call but the 45 is meant to be a 1911 IMO however if you can find a 10xx smith then I think you would be happy with it as well.

Colt Gold cup in nickle -- That is a keeper!!!

Of your choices I would get the Sig.

Those models are like hens teeth. You can get a Smith anytime, the Stainless Elites you need to hit the lottery to find one.

Besides I have had no luck with Maine 1911s.

I sold one of my guns for $1200.00 yesterday and walked into my LGS to buy that Sig Elite and the owner was there and now said $1300.00. I got a price $1200 last week from the other guy thats works there but he was off today. I told the boss $1200.00 or i walk out. I came home and put $1200 in the safe. I'm not even pissed off. I like that sig and sold a S&W R-8 to buy it but for the first time i have cash on hand. No one is going to buy that Sig down here in Slower lower Delaware.
Let it sit on the shelf...

i have a 1911 pd gunsite edition, had a sig 220, 228 and a 226. HAD being the key word there. complicated operating system. some will say it's not traditional 1911 'cause of the external extractor, but forget that. i have a series 80 light weight colt commander in .45, a series 70 combat commander in 9mm, and a series 70 combat commander in .38 super. i carry my s&w more than any of the others. my vote is for either s&w.

I've waited awhile to find a S&W E-series locally. I could find the ones with the tact rail and black finish but not the plain SS. I've loved the look and feel of the S&W 1911. Last year I went to 4 guns show and only once did I find the gun I wanted. This year I've been to 2 so far and this past weekend they had one. $825 I couldn't resist. I've been to 5 LGS and they all had me on a waiting list with no end in sight the past 4 months. I looked at the Sigs and Kimbers and thought about a Ruger, but as they say you might as well get what you want.
All I can say I am a happy camper.
