S&W 586 Accuracy

My first revolver was a 586-5 or -6.....I would have to dig it out of the safe to be more accurate but I think a -6, 4 inch round butt. I bought it new and it came with pachmyars that I replaced with a set of round butt combats to kind of make it look like one of my 3 inch Hortons, in 44 special.

It was a popular mod to send M686/586's back to the Mothership to have the pinned Patridge sight installed. I saw a receipt for one that was done back in the day, it was still in the box, and IIRC they charged about $75 and I think that included the return shipping, too.

A shooting buddy installed a partridge sight on my 586 in 1986 and IIRC he charged $40. As luck would have it I could shoot neck hold on a B-27 at 50 yards with the rear sight elevation bottomed out.

Wow, a Patridge sight early 586. I have a collection (I think 10) of no-dash L frames and the only one I'd still like to find is yours. Which side is the S&W logo on?

When they were first introduced we were able to make a group purchase. I forget the total number purchased but one had a Patridge sight. Today I wished I had grabbed that one.
