I am still looking for one. In another thread I was informed that a black trigger and black skeletonized hammer indicated a newer model with MIM parts. I have read some about MIM parts including a long thread by Bruce Gray on the Sigforum. I am not overly concerned about MIM parts, but partly because of that and mostly because of the esthetics, I would prefer one with the stainless appearance. There is a gun on Gunbroker right now with a black hammer that does not appear to be skeletonized. Would this still be a "newer" model with MIM parts?

Silver hammers and triggers were "Flash Chrome" and were changed to just blued parts before MIM. I'm not sure of the dates but I had guns dating '94-95 that had the blued steel parts.

Slight thread drift: the gun on gunbroker has Hogue grips. Are those hard rubber or plastic? How do they compare to the standard S&W grips?

Hogues are rubber and are noticeably wider than the factory plastic. Their grip units for the single-stack guns are quite comfortable, but the double0stacks ones are just too wide...

I might as well throw in some of my 5906 porn.

That is a nice and crisp photo.
Here is my take on the 5906 theme.
