I'm in the camp of small .44 spl/mag revolvers being a wish list thing.

Small being relative. No scandium airweight bs. Give it the full lug and weight it requires to be sane to shoot.

2-3" bbls would be wonderful. Let me camp with something reasonable sized but enough snort to be reckoned with.

Next best is 10mm semi auto stuff but meh... not the same.

God as my witness...I'll never own a plastic gun...EVER. Yes, I am a grumpy old fart. I'd rather have a worn blue gun than a plastic thing that looks like the foggy head lights on my 2003 GMC truck.

Plastic is good for some things but in a gun it ain't even on my radar...not for $5.00. Jus' sayin'

No 3 inch barrels for me.

I shoot long barrel Uberti cowboy revolvers , mostly in .38 special. I received my Talo 686plus non fluted 7" barrel in April. I have a 586 blue steel 6" barrel Combat on order. I am still deciding on , "What next?". My friend has a "Magnum". "The Magnum" A 1935-41 Model 27 with a four inch barrel. I hate short barrels revolvers. This model 27 is the most sexiest, perfect looking revolver that I know of. Old , patina , and well balanced in my hand. I want a new one ! I like buying a new Smith & Wesson. If you give a Yankee a job , they won't be moving to South Carolina. Baw-ha ! Ha ! Ha ! Ha ! Ha ! I want to buy a model 27 with a 8" barrel. They come in 6.5" , "Drat !". That 4" barrel model 27 is so sexy.

Is that .357 pictured with the wood grips your revolver? I'm desperate for a set of wood grips like that. Can you tell me where you obtained those?

Yes that is my Model 19, I bought those grips used on ebay, they were in very rough shape when I got them, I refinished them, its been a few years back, the prices on the ones on ebay now have gone thru the roof

Since we are all dreaming...how about a K-frame, 3" bbl, round butt, 5 shot 44 Special. Blued of course with good wood grips.

They are Smith & Wesson Original Combat Stocks.

Smith and Wesson is dead, nothing exists of the old company but the name. They bought Thompson Center and killed it. Remington, marlin, H&R all gone.

The dedicated, skilled craftsmen are dead or retired.

I like the factory combat stocks, but so many of them look horrible. Half-assed cutting of the grooves, rough finish, and look like thick polyurethane resin was just glopped on with a heaping helping of lint in the poly.
And, then, sellers want an arm and a leg for them.

Definitely NOT what I would expect from S&W.

Combats haven't been made in nearly 20 years. Not sure that's the timeframe we are talking about here.

IMHO S&W Combats are some of the nicest figured wood on the planet. I'm glad they don't make em anymore. They would not be the same.

I have a 3'' 686 plus and I Love it! Shoots great & can be concealed if needed. It's part of my "bug out" supplies.

I carry a model 60 in 357 when off duty, which works fine for me. However, if I could get my hands on a 3 inch model 66, that would be what I would carry. I have a nice M66 no dash, a new model 66 which I sometimes carry on duty (I am an armed security officer), and a model 65. The K frame is the perfect fit for my hands. I have a bunch of Glock duty weapons because most of the people I contract with require a Semi Auto. Given my choice though I would always prefer a revolver.

So S&W Please produce a model 66 in 3 inch!!!!!!

Why not go buy a Prelock 66. Prob buy for around what S&W would charge for a new 3" if produced. Sounds like you are not looking for a safe queen.

S&w fans are purists. I know I wouldn't want a converted gun. I had a 3" 65 I should never have sold, and a 3" 10 that Buds was selling a few years ago. Sold that too. Dope that I am. I'd love to have them both back. The 10'had a square butt though. Just looks wrong on a 3 inch. Like a round butt looks wrong on a 4"

Just so everyone understands.....that was a JOKE, hence the . I would never butcher a bunch of S&W's, especially beloved K-frames, for profit or anything else. I only reluctantly converted my 64-3 to 3" because I couldn't find one at the time and I got desperate (I REALLY wanted a 3" mod. 64). That gun will never be sold....and never described by me to others as anything but a conversion (some might say "perversion"). So, worry not purists !

I just want a 3 inch M57.

As a fanatical lover of the .41 mag cartridge and of M57/M58 series in particular, I'd say that would be a dream gun for me: round butt, 3", M57. Am even considering "Frankensteining" one of my 8-3/8" M57s to have one, but not sure how to make the square butt into a round butt...

I'm betting a lot of the revolver enthusiasts, here on this site and elsewhere, would be turned off by the ILS (and price) and still wouldn't buy -- no matter what length of barrel a gun had.

My local gunshop had a beautiful model 27 in the case. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it had four screws in the side plate! It felt like a blow to the gut when I flipped her over and saw the lock. I could easily look past the MIM parts and frame mounted pin but you are correct that the IL is a deal breaker. Another almost bought gun was one of those snub X-frames that comes in the yellow water proof case. I can't imagine having a revolver intended for bear protection with an IL in it.
