Hi all, new to this site. May have an opportunity to buy the pistol mentioned in the header. Haven't seen it yet, but is suppose to be 90% with original box. Got the serial off the box. 474220. Can anyone id the production date and approximate value? Thanks

Mid 1920s is as close as I can guess.

Perhaps $400 with the box if the box is in reasonably good condition.

90% would not be considered fantastic by serious collectors but if it has the original and correct box that would be a real treasure.

Not being serious collector I couldn't even guess at the value. Well, I could guess. $350-$400 (assuming the box is correct). But that's a non-expert guess.

I think that serial would be from around 1927.

Well as I mentioned, I haven't seen the gun yet. He (the seller) had the box in his car, but not the pistol. The box appeared to be in excellent condition and had a 6 digit number written in pencil on the bottom, so I am assuming that is the serial of the pistol. Inside the box top were operating instructions in English and Spanish. It also had a copywright date of 1928. I think the label also read 4 inch Miltary Police.
So it should be blue with wooden grips.
Someone else told me it was a 1905 4th change. What is the 4th change? Thanks

The 1905 4th Change was the last version of the K frame Military & police. Slight mechanical differences between it and the earlier (1st - 3rd Changes) models. In 1957 this became the famous Model 10.

Welcome to the forum...the collector value is in the box if your descriptions are correct. 90% 4th change 1905's are pretty common. A 1920's box in excellent condition is not. Prices above are on the mark keeping in mind the box aloone would go for $125, maybe more at the right auction.
