Yes. I bought a new 6-inch M617 in about 1989 and there was one in the box. Still have the tool. Traded the gun (dumb!).
they first came out with semi-autos in the late 80s I think. I've had one on my key ring for close to 25 years. handy little tool. lee

I have one just like it. Don't remember for sure where or when I got it, but I'm glad to have it. Have seen very few of these. It's a dandy!

There are two styles of the flat (key chain) SAT.. Large hole like yours and , small hole is the other style...

It was in an estate sale box a few weeks ago, I think it was $4.
Bought it out of general principle. Maybe a nice karma someday. Or maybe an add to my keyring.

Flat SAT
My Model 14-5, 6" 38 Special, shipped with the Large Hole Version. Ship date May 22, 1992.
My Model 16-4 and Model 31, .32 Magnums, both came with the "small hole" version of this SAT. They shipped October 26, 1989, and September 1, 1990 respectively.

I have a few like that. I also have a small aluminum handled screwdriver from S&W.
I can't find them on
... Numrich - any chance for a link Sir? One of them came with my 622AS but I cannot find it for the life of me ... 
Edited to add: Sorry for being such a doofus - I found the SAT's on Numrich ...

I have mine on my keyring. I believe that it was the last of the factory supplied SAT's.
