Sad to Think There Are Really People This DUMB

I've been rather lucky myself. I've won several contests amounting to many dollars and many vacations to exotic lands. The curious thing about all that is that I've never heard of the contests let alone entered them. My prizes should start rolling in any day now..........

I'm still waiting.....

I wired my money to Nigeria and am waiting for that son of the president who died in a car wreck and who's mother died of 'cancer of the breast' to send the millions for me to hold in my account until he can claim it. Even if I only get a few million dollars, it's still a great deal.

Wife and I is in the process of selling the house, we won so many free cruise, we figure we can live on cruise ships for the rest of our live.

Years ago I got a call from Las Vegas. The man congratulated me because
I had won my choice of two gifts. One of them was a color TV. I don't
remember the other, because I chose the TV. All I had to do was send
them some "handling fees".
I told him to just go ahead and send the TV. As soon as I got it I would
plug it in and if it worked satisfactorily I would send the money.
His reply: "You just don't understand business you jerk!" CLICK

A little low tech, but many, many, many years ago an ad would be placed in the local newspaper stating "make money from home, send a self addressed stamped envelope with $5.00 and I'll show you a way to make money". You sent the $5.00 and SASE and you got back a slip of paper that said "First place and ad in the local paper..............(just like he did), ha.

Anyone who doubts how dumb people really are need only to ask WHY Scammers keep calling and emailing. If they were NOT successful, the calls & emails would come to a crashing halt.

Elderly people who grew up in different times and trusting people aren't skeptics as they should now be because in the past they really had less to fear about being scammed. Welcome to the new world.:mad::(:(

With several forum accounts and a personal one, I get many scam emails per day...HAVE to wonder WHO falls for these? Shouldn't victims of this stuff be under observation/supervision 24/7?

Unfortunately, plain ol' greed often overrules intelligence and common sense. Matter of fact, greed often emphasizes someone's lack of intelligence.

Plus, hard as it may seem to believe, there are still people who are not fully into this modern world, who actually don't comprehend how completely the old-time flimflam and snake oil sales pitch have evolved into the age of the computer and the Internet. These poor folks really believe that no one can find out their e-mail address unless they're highly connected with a government or something. So they fall for it. Senior citizens are especially vulnerable to this stuff...especially phone-related scams, or even door-to-door con men.

It's been happening for centuries, and it'll continue to happen.

I'm a little smarter than the average person. I never got involved
in these deals because I knew that accepting that kind of money
would put me in a higher tax bracket, which I can't afford.:D

Hey last year I won $950,000 in a Nigerian Email lottery. I was very Lucky that my email was selected. I never win a thing no matter how much I tried. I decline the winnings on the account that they wanted me to provide my home address and a credit card # to complete the transfer of the money. Now my luck is turning for the worst just yesterday I received a call from the "IRS" that they had issue an arrest warrant for me because I owe them money. I had to contact some guy immediately to avoid jail time. I did not call him, I am waiting for them to come to my house. How people fall for all this BS is unreal to me.

Grins

Just for the grins, I will go through a couple of those scam emails in my junk folder and most of them are just incredibly transparent.
However, recently I have been seeing emails that are clearly targeting people who have fallen for a scam and trying to entice them to try to recover their losses via the "new" scam.
Based on that, it seems clear that some people are trying to get rich quick; pretty cagey of the scammers too, because they are targeting folks who are more likely to fall for a new scam since they have already demonstrated their willingness to be scammed.

When it comes to this sort of brain-dead idiocy, I delete everything and hang up on everybody. My serenity remains intact, and life is good.

Guy I worked with was on a job and in California when his mom got a call that he was in jail in Mexico and they needed a bunch of money before they would release him. She sent the money.
