Scopes on handguns

I really never had much trouble obtaining a sight picture with a scope, it was always the magnification that showed how shaky and nervous I was that was my problem and is more so now that I am older. These 2 guns both have 4X Leopold Gold Ring EER scopes and don't know if you can still buy them or not. I started with the 2X and went to the 4X and liked it better. The top pistol is a M27 and the bottom pistol is a K22 if my picture comes thru as planned. Both 8 3/8" bbls and the scopes were mounted in '79 and still perform and shoot as well as when they were new. It is just that I can't perform as well.:) The adjustment for clear view on the extended eye relief is no problem. Both guns have had a round or two fired thru them.

I have one on a TC. I have a .256 win mag barrel with a 2X on it. I never could get really in to.

Steveno mentioned a sling. I have a Contender and have had N-frames with a sling stud at the base of the grip. Using one sling swivel and a loop sling of about 20" per side (or 40" total length). for a right hand shooter place the sling over the left and under the right shoulder. Extend the handgun in a 2 handed stance and push forward until the sling is tight, at this time adjust sling so eye relief is correct on scope. This stance has made a very stable platform for standing or seated shooting. The weight of a large handgun at full extension is mitigated by the sling and is somewhat comfortable while waiting for your target animal to move into proper presentation. Ivan

I prefer dot scopes on handguns. Much easier to find your target, and if your old like me, way easier to see.

I use a Ultra dot 30mm on my 22 and a Sig Sauer Romeo 4 on my 44 mag. So far have put about 500 rounds thru the 44 and the dots still there. ;)
