Scored a Model 66 at LGS

Boys, I am sure glad I took a moment to read this thread. I have had this 66 no dash with stainless sights for a while. It somehow escaped getting into my records log. I went in search of it this morning and found it in the bowels of the big safe quietly resting. Think it is from 1972 but is early ss sights. Thanks for starting me on the search for this one. Another treasure hidden from myself, but now in the anals of my records.

That is a really nice find, especially with the grips. I rarely see model 19/66 with that barrel length at gun stores anymore, and when they do show up it's never for long.

Here's mine. It's a 4" barrel 66-1. Sorry the picture is not so great. Was taken with my 3 yr old phone.

Its a great looking gun but I don't know enough about them to notice anything strange.

But it only has a "66" as the model number... has no dash and no 1,2, or 3 after "66".

My goodness but John makes some fantastic looking stocks...

A -2 with a pinned barrel? Looks like an awesome transition gun using an old stock frame with the at the time latest parts. Very nice catch and a lifetime keeper.

The profile makes the barrel look longer than 6" but that's what it is...

Ding, ding, ding.....we have a winner. I believe another oddity is that it has the small S&W Trademark on the left side.

Actually this is the second deal I got in this same store,
Bought this 629-1 about 6 months ago for 850.00,
For some reason all the used revolvers are priced really good but most other stuff is somewhat pricey. This 629-1 is also in perfect condition with no marks, dings or anything but again no box or documentation.

this is a 66-3 that i found about two years ago at a lgs. these are spegel boot grips that are on the gun.

Gonna pose my 66-1 in my microwave after I fire up my shop vac and vacuum it out. . ..

Your's is pinned but not recessed, my 66-1 is recessed but not pinned.

I think as long as it has either it should be marked a 66-1.

I'm gonna have to move to south florida, I've seen a bunch of good finds on the forum come from there. Maybe all the 1980s drug kingpins had big collections.

I just found this 66-2 at a local pawn/gun shop. Came with orig box and papers. Sorry the pics just don't show how clean and unused this gun really is. I need to work on that if I keep it long enough.
That's my wide glide underneath it. It's pretty too.

Correction... my gunsmith observed my post... called me... and asked me to do something. Pop the cylinder... and look down at the hinge inscription. It DOES INDICATE MODEL 66-1. Like a young goose... I learn something new everyday.
