Scott Peterson not guilty

...While I appreciate the ethic that warns against judging others, I also recognize that if we don't call actions right or wrong, even good or evil we are left with anarchy. His actions were cowardly...

Well-stated. I didn't follow this trial at all -- didn't watch one minute of it -- so I heard none of the evidence. As someone who believes in and supports our American system of justice, I accept the jury's verdict that he was not guilty of the charges levied against him. He committed no crime.

That doesn't change the fact that he's a coward. As I noted before, I don't know how he sleeps at night...

It all changes when you agree to take the job. What I would expect out of someone in parking enforcement is way different than someone who accepted an assignment at a school.

I have to believe I would have a hard time living with myself if I stood by and let someone kill kids.

A minor beef between contractors resulted in a "man with a gun" call to PD from the utility plant where I worked. I observed the first officer to respond wait outside the entry gate 5-10 minutes for back up.
What was he trained to do?
Despite wall to wall coverage locally I virtually ignored the story. I did not know about the endangerment charges until I read the above posts, I had wondered why he was on trial at all as cowardice is not a crime.

Peterson from Day 1 has insisted he did nothing wrong. I don't believe I have ever heard him express remorse for the victims.

I have work with Officers like Peterson. I had a coworker that never went hands on in any kind unruly situation. I never saw him even use his handcuffs. He stood way back and let the rest of us roll on ground fighting with the perp. I don't even want to think about whether he would use his gun (assuming it had a round in the chamber and even worked).

School Resource Officers have always concerned me. When I see a 50 something Officer I feel he is probably looking for a easy do nothing job until retirement.

This is why there should be no gun free zones. Daughters school had an active shooter call, thankfully turned out to be false but one of the Mom's stood at the front door and told the principle no one is going to hurt these kids as she patted her hip. Bus driver at same school asked me what I thought of him carrying to protect the kids, I was all for it. Both could have been fired or arrested but instead chose to protect the kids. A couple of us carry at church for same reason. When my daughter was in school I always carried when I was there. We need to take care of ourselves. As for the coward of Broward hope he can sleep at night or not!

But there is also brave LEO's like the officer who stopped the recent mall shooting in Allen Texas.
I am sure you have seen the video!

Who are you counting on if you call 911, Peterson? The entire Uvalde PD? The Allen Texas guy? What you hope for and what you get may not be the same. Therein lies the problem when SCOTUS says they don't have to protect you. Call 911 and roll the dice.
