Sharing my 1911

When I traded into a Super Elite GCNM followed by a 1943 1911a-1 , I joined the Colt Forum . Great bunch over there , and like here with S&W's ,there's a wealth of knowledge over there . Join and post these pic's , you'll get a lot of help .

I'm already there and the 1911 forum, too. So far the concensus is that this is the real deal. It means so much more knowing my grandfather carried one like it in 1918. I believe my father in law gave it to me because he knows I will appreciate the history it represents. His kids probably wouldn't.

Excellent example of WWI history, but it really deserves to be shot. Put some 230 grn. ball through it. Best done twice a year: Memorial Day & Veterans Day. Maybe gift your FIL a "new" one from the CMP.
Enjoy.

I agree, but modern ammo could crack the slide. I'll shoot my Colt 1911A1 on holidays.
