So I can't find anywhere, and called smith and Wesson and got different answers. Does anyone know if the shield 45 slide stop is compatible with the shield 9mm slide stop? I need to find a 45 slide stop since mine went down, and don't want to wait months to wait for a warranty repair if I don't have to.

Not sure why you got different answers. Those things have part numbers. If it's the same part number then it's the same part. If not then they're different.

My guess is they aren't the same. The 45 is a noticeably larger firearm than the 9mm.

Months? I got mine returned in under 3 weeks. They must not like you? ;-)

What's the specific problem ?
Generally S&W, unlike Sig Sauer, will send you a replacement part with a phone call.

They might on some parts...but with all the liability issues lately, all gun manufacturers have gotten more antsy about user installs. The only way to find out is to call them...but if they want you to send it in, they will pay for shipping both ways, and install the part for you. It might take a couple of weeks, but at least you'd know they did it right and maintained your warranty coverage.

You are right about the liability issue. I just called S&W CS to tell them my hammer block broke on my Model 60-10. I requested they send the part, which is the easiest thing in the world to fix. All you do is pop the side plate and lay the part in the appropriate track and close the side plate. They said they wanted to install the part so they shipped my gun FED EX both ways at their cost for a $2 part that I could have installed. Oh well. I'm grateful for good service anyway.
