Shockwave!

Looks like a nicely thought out and produced close quarters shotgun.
Might get one if they offer it in 16 gauge. Don't want over penetration inside the domicile. A 16 gauge should also be easier handling. Might serve as a good truck gun. At only 26.3" overall length I suspect a shoulder rig to be available soon.

Andrews holsters in Fla has been making a shoulder rig for short shotguns for years.

rem 870

I needed one 20 some years ago, big bear gun in Alaska.
This was my answer. I bought a brand new Remington 870 express, filed a form 1 with ATF (long before the B and the E letters:rolleyes:), when that came back I chucked her up and cut her off.....remounted the sight, took a huge buffing wheel and polished off the damn rough metal (I think it was bead blasted and I hated it) sent it to Arizona response systems and had it metacol finished. I have drug it all over Alaska slung over my back whilst fishing. It still looks new, that finish is tough and super weather resistant. The barrel is 11 3/4" and the entire gun is 24". It is a handful and like the Thunder Ranch video preaches: keep it away from your face! I put a 3" mag in it once just to see how hard it kicked............pushed all the way out and with both arms braced and ready for it, it bounced my right thumb off my nose. Yeah once was way more than enough. I call it my "crowd pleaser" The deal on the Mossy is great, I have way more that that in this one with the tax stamp and the custom finish and it is forever a SBS.

I like your gun! Looks like an excellent self-defense-in-the-woods-and-everywhere-else gun.

I wouldn't mind seeing some closer shots of the finish. And what kind/brand swivel did you install on the birdshead?

I just brought home my Remington 870 Asylum GatekeeperII. I was wondering if I should sling it like shamrocker or go with a Voodoo Shotgun Scabbard. That brought up a couple of questions:

1. Is there enough thickness on the plastic grip to mount (drill and screw in) a lug for a sling swivel, if I want to attach a sling?
2. I think I'll attach a hand strap to the fore end. Would that interfere with a sling?
3. If I want to use a Voodoo Scabbard, is there enough room to accommodate a sidesaddle with extra shells?

a quick answer: I have no idea what brand the birdshead grip is that I installed but there was plenty of meat in it to drill it and install a QR stud for the swivel on the sling, I would think the ones on the factory remington and the mossy also for that matter would also have enough meat to them. I also have a leather scabbard that I had a shoe repair shop build for me a long time ago........ not to carry it on me but to strap it to the handlebars of my Harley:) I haven't done that for a long time...I mean what do you do with it when you park? If I pull it out and sling it, folks are going to call out the swat team. I sure ain't gonna leave it on the bike. A great idea that wasn't. If you go to Arizona Response Systems, LLC. Firearm Finishes Photo Gallery. Mark has some great pictures of what he can do with this finish.

I was very impressed with the way the Shockwave handled, and patterned.

It is also the first firearm I've ever shot that I would consider stippling the grip; the birdshead handle, while very comfortable, was just a touch on the slick side for something with ample recoil.

Coincidentally, I picked mine up today. I pre-ordered it about 3 months ago. I am waiting to get my hands on some of the Aguila mini-shells before I put it through its paces. Not too anxious to run full load buckshot through it.

I saw a rather cryptic reference to "Texas & U.S. Law Shield" and the new Mossberg Shockwave in my latest issue of TSRA Sportsman (just received it last Friday) with the admonition that the Shockwave is probably NOT legal in the state of Texas. Bottom line... this doesn't look good.

You may want to look into this. I looked up the link.

The Voodoo scabbard fits tightly so I don't think it will work with a sidesaddle.

Devil's Advocate, I know...

Hi people. Before we start carrying the Shockwave with a chest strap or tossing it behind the seat of a pickup as a truck gun, perhaps it would be better to first see if law enforcement agencies are clued in to this item. To us, the Shockwave looks cool. Guaranteed it won't look that way, loaded, to a cop on a car stop at 1AM. It will simply be a "sawed-off shotgun" to the uninitiated. And the argument that it is a "firearm" is not gonna fly (Of course, it is a firearm!); at the very least, a visit in cuffs to the station house seems likely until everything is sorted out.

Perhaps patience is called for: taking the gun in a gun case, unloaded, to the range for practice. Up to you...
