What should I put as the value of this on the insurance schedule? It is a carry gun with the normal wear that brings.

Sorry to ask but I don't see anything close on any of the usual suspect auction sites.

jdh, I have a shooter grade Shorty 40 (from the first run of 1500) that has some wear on it typical of having been carried, but is mechanically flawless. I traded for it (with box and a couple of mags), and gave a used but very good condition polymer-framed Smith in 40 caliber (with box, four mags, and a pocket holster) that at the time would have sold as a package for, I think, around $650. He wanted what I had, and I wanted what he had, so it was a good deal for both of us.

I would not even consider selling this Shorty 40 for less than $750 at this point, if that's any help to you in establishing an insurance value.

Here is my opinion

Shooter value with worn off symbols and scrathes

700-800

Intermediate value with box, papers and slight use marks but all symbols are there

950-1200

NIB

1400-1500

the silvers are worth a little less than the black ones,

Forgot I have these in my photobook. Maybe they will help:
