Ever since I bought my 686+ ten years ago, I had problems with one of the cylinder chambers. Whenever I fired .357 ammo, I needed to use a wood dowel or cleaning rod to knock out the empty case. The other chambers were fine. I didn't shoot it that often and most of the time when I did I would fire .38 Specials without any problem. This was not a cleaning issue. I even polished each of the chambers per instructions found on this forum. No joy. That chamber was clearly out of spec. Finally got around to sending it in to S&W for repair. 19 days from the time I shipped it I had it back in my possession with a new cylinder. That's service!

Yes, it is good to read all the good comments about S&W customer service. I've sent several revolvers to them either for repairs or re-bluing and I've had nothing but complete satisfaction with the finished products. It's a shame that we're sometime so quick to complain and slow to complement. I, for one, would like to hear more positive feedback when it's merited. Each time I've received a revolver back from the factory, I've immediately taken the time to give them a call and thank them for the job they've done.

I had a similar trouble.

I don't know if yours would have been the same but on mine there was some machine markings that got too close to the chamber's mouth & caused a dimple on the edge.

Unfired case inserted easily but fired cases had to be pounded out. They replaced mine free of charge too.

Glad yours went well also. :)

Blue dot: I think mine was a different problem. The forward quarter inch of the bad chamber seemed to be over-bored. The front end of the brass would expand just enough in that part of the chamber such that they were too large to be able to be extracted. That's why I initially though it had to do with my firing .38 specials more than .357 mags.
