I can't help you out with a short barrelled M686, but I can with the M66. I have a 3" M66 F-Comp, but no pics hosted anywhere of that right now.

But here's my 2-1/2" P&R M66 (no dash) that Karl Sokol at Chestnut Mountain Sports built for me. I had a 3" M13 done with the same mods, except parkerized, at the same time.

Here are the specs of the M66:
-bobbed hammer
-trigger raduised with overtravel stop installed
-orange inlay in front sight
-all sharp edges slightly rounded
-action smoothed, but not lightened
-bead blasted finish
-hard, smooth nylon no-snag carry grips.

Still have the 66-2, 3" with the Compat grips. Feels "right" in the hand.
