OK, I'm sort of an honorary (ornery?) member. My faux Model 16-3 started life as a 14-3 and had a factory NOS barrel and a rebored Model 17 cylinder added to convert it; in much the same way some of the factory built 16-3s were constructed at the factory as production and demand wound down.

As you would imagine, it was built to be shot, and I do… as often as possible!

32 Caliber K-frames

The first two 4" target revolvers are from 1910, and are serial-numbered in the 32-20 series, which is where all K-32's should have been serial-numbered. These two are sequentially serial-numbered, and went to two shooters in St Louis. Serial numbers are 43133 and 43134. The following two pictures are of 43134 by itself.

The next two pictures are of both guns, first the right sides and then the left sides.

These next two revolvers are pre-WW2 early K-32's, built and shipped as a pair to the Springfield ( not Longmeadow) PD.

This next revolver is like the two above, but with a 4" barrel.

This picture shows three post-WW2 32 M&P's. The barrel lengths are 2", 4", and 5".

The next two pictures are the 1st post-WW2 K-32. It was originally a blue salesman's sample for about a year, and finally the first order came in, for a nickel gun. The finish was changed from blue to nickel, and delivered to a hardware store in St Louis.

The last two pictures are 4" post-WW2 K-32 targets. One is a very early 5-screw, and the other is a 4-screw (red front sight insert).

My turn, this came from a neighbor and close friend of my Dad. He shot bullseye league with it for years, back in the day. The magnas on it didn't match, so I put these targets on it. My Dad said he had a set of thumb rest targets on it years ago, and probably thought I'd rather like the Smith grips.

As a side note, these old unrelieved K frame targets have to be some of the best feeling grips Smith ever made for smaller hands. After I bought these I came across a pair of smooth presentation unrelieved K targets at a gun show. I put them on my K-38, even though the grips on it match. Just have to be very careful dumping brass.

In 1988 we were in Livingston, MT and I visited gunwriter Mike Venturino's place. I had a nickel Colt SAA .45 and a Colt New Service Target model with me. Because I had the N.S. .44 Russian/Spl, he pulled out his Triplelock Target Model to show me. Then he showed me his Model 16 .32. Both guns I had previously saw and read about and recognized instantly. there were Sharps rifles all over the place but that's another story.

You guys are killing me! Thanks!

I have a non model marked 4 screw K22 I got from my grandfather. I have always had this pipe dream to assemble the same vintage in the complimentary calibers- non model marked 4 crews- in the K32 and K 38. I rarely see any K32's, and they're either not for sale or don't fiy that narrow timeframe. But the hunt is what makes it fun right? :)
