If I can be allowed a 1/4 inch...this 44 Magnum is one of three built and shipped by S&W in 1974 with a 3 1/4-inch barrel and fixed sights. The stocks are by Keith Brown. click on the photo for a better look.

I carried this revolver on several hunting trips in the Scapegoat Wilderness in western Montana. It is great for horseback because of its short barrel. I always carried it when I did not have my rifle because of a chance encounter with a grizzly.

Model 66-2 Ashland

Fond memories of the M66-2 Ashland (Bill knows it was mine long ago...)
Recalled the other day I was carrying it while working a Special Project/Stakeout in NW Raleigh trying to catch a burglar that had broken into many homes in the area. Long story shortened, but spotted him in the woods from an elevated window in a vacant home that was for sale. Observed him approach a rear window of a nearby home, extract a crowbar from his field jacket sleeve, pop open a rear window and enter.
Partner and I ran to the house, radioing for back-up. Turned out we were in a radio dead spot. I took the POE, partner took the other side...
Suspect exited the window he'd B&E'ed, out onto a rear deck.
Still had the crowbar in-hand. I challenged, ordering him to the deck. For just a moment he raised the crowbar, and then reconsidered that bad decision. That M66 had a sight picture on his sternum, but he did comply and partner and I cuffed him and used another radio channel to summon transport.
We cleared about 20 B&E's, city and county on that, and that M66 had a front row seat.

Several Magnum Snubs

I've only have a couple of .357 Magnum snubs: a 627-5 (8 shot) with Crimson Trace stocks and a 19-4; and my wife likes her .22 Magnum Ruger LCR (with laser). I do have a few more in .38 Spl. but they don't fit this thread!. No big boy caliber snubs for me because they're just too uncomfortable for me to shoot. I did own a Model 386PD (7-shot with scandium/titanium), but it was so light that it was almost impossible to shoot with full power magnum loads and I ended up trading it.

65-5 and a CS-1. The CS has since been blasted and looks nice. Still lacking a 3' 13 or 3' 66. When it's time to liquidate in about 10 years, the 3s will be hard to let go. PS, how do I post pics at the larger size?
