Fond memories of the M66-2 Ashland (Bill knows it was mine long ago...)
Recalled the other day I was carrying it while working a Special Project/Stakeout in NW Raleigh trying to catch a burglar that had broken into many homes in the area. Long story shortened, but spotted him in the woods from an elevated window in a vacant home that was for sale. Observed him approach a rear window of a nearby home, extract a crowbar from his field jacket sleeve, pop open a rear window and enter.
Partner and I ran to the house, radioing for back-up. Turned out we were in a radio dead spot. I took the POE, partner took the other side...
Suspect exited the window he'd B&E'ed, out onto a rear deck.
Still had the crowbar in-hand. I challenged, ordering him to the deck. For just a moment he raised the crowbar, and then reconsidered that bad decision. That M66 had a sight picture on his sternum, but he did comply and partner and I cuffed him and used another radio channel to summon transport.
We cleared about 20 B&E's, city and county on that, and that M66 had a front row seat.
