simple Idea

I go to the range a lot and one of the things they ask when the line goes cold is the bolt back and since our girls are all black they cant tell so I stick my finger in the chamber to show em.

Well if you ever had you finger get slammed by a bolt ( my dad's garand ) you know that hurts, so I made a adapter out of a spent shell drilled the center out and added a brass screw and epoxied the shell on a small piece of wood I painted, I am also going to epoxy a piece of rubber to the end to protect the bolt more if the bolt slams home.

btw it didn't take me that long to make this and total cost was $ 0 i used scraps I already had in the shop.

You could have just bought a couple of plastic chamber safety flags for a buck or two each. Me I don't like the idea of sticking another piece of metal in my chamber in case it might have picked up some crud while laying around. Putting a thin rod of plastic instead of the empty shell casing would have been better.

More work than I would care to put into it, but using a safety flag is a real good idea on a range you share with other shooters.

The chamber flags are for the larger chambers of the 5.56, I doubt it will fit the 15-22, besides its not as much fun as making one, I like building things when I can, and it looks cool to

I use one, it works fine.

5.56/.223cal are pretty close to .22cal. It just has to fit inside the chamber to tell if the chamber is empty, which it does just fine. It doesn't have to go all the way in like it would on a 5.56/.223.

I do agree it's fun to make stuff, but for what my time is worth, I won't make something that cost ~$1.

Its the challenge I love,and its different, I did add some rubber I epoxied inside where the bullet was to keep trash out and plan on polishing the brass to shine and they fit like a glove and look cool.

I even made my own kitchen cabinets just to see if I could and they turned out pretty good even tho it would have been cheaper to buy new ones.
