Greetings all, 1/16/13

I prefer a small, alloy framed carry pistol in .45acp. I've tried a number of others but always go back to my Sig p245. It's light, accurate and reliable. But I've also got a number of 3rd gen pistols and recently stumbled upon a 4513tsw. It feeds, functions and shoots magnificently like all 3rd gens but the grip is just too flat on the sides to fill my hands like the Sig does. Any suggestions on ways to change the grips so it fills my palms better?

ps- like others before me I also blame 18DAI for this latest 3rd gen purchase.

If it's wearing the factory Delrin grips you can either switch them out for Hogues (thicker, rubber instead of thinner, hard-plastic) or they also make a sleeve that slips over the factory Delrins. (I recently saw them on a pic of another member's gun and sent him a PM asking who makes them.) For me, I'm going to give the sleeve a try. My 4513 came with Hogues but I switched them to the factory version. The sleeve looks like it will create a nice feel between the two.

Well..........since your purchase is my "fault"......I guess I better provide you some assistance. ;)

I have an early production, or "original" 6-round 4513TSW in my holster today. It wears Hogue grips, for a 4516, cut down by member Big Dog to fit the gripcutout for the magazine. I ave big hands and it fits me pretty well.

I don't care for the factory grips on this variant of the 4513TSW. I did try a Hogue slip on grip, or "Glock sock" as they are sometimes referred to, with the factory grip. It worked OK but the cut out Hogue 4516 grip works better, for me.

I personally tried a Sig 245 when I was shopping for a compact carry 45. Nice pistol, but I prefer the 4513TSW with a Hogue grip. Hope this helps!

Sincerly,
your enabler,
18DAI :)

I also blame 18DAI for my addiction, so I guess I'm far from taking responsibility and will be addicted for a long while... :D

I'd try a piece of a bike inner tube for a while, maybe even double it up. ;)

I appreciate all the suggestions. Since I was in KMart a few days ago I went to the bike section and got a nice, new 12 inch bike tube made in China (like everything else). I cut out a small bit and amazingly it fit around the 4513tsw grip like a glove and feels much better in the hand. I think I also have a set of 4566tsw Hogue grips around here somewhere that I can maybe cut down to fit the 4513tsw. I'll play around with my choices for a bit and see how it looks, feels and functions. Thanks for the help.
