At this moment, it is once again snowing:eek:

Possibly another 3 inches.

This Saturday, we are expecting Blizzard conditions going into Sunday night, possibly 14 inches more, with winds up to 65 MPH.

A big thank you to the fine state of Vermont.:)

National Guard troops from Vermont are set to arrive in Massachusetts today, helping dig towns out from record breaking snow totals.

Over the past three weeks, the state has been hit hard with snow, with some places getting over seven feet.

National Guard troops were deployed Tuesday to help clear out the snow, but more help is needed.

Vermont's Governor Peter Shumlin said sending his own troops to assist is the neighborly thing to do.

"Let's remember that we have been through our own struggles here during Irene we reached out to a number of neighboring states to give us help from their guard member when we were in trouble so we're delighted to be able to return some of the favor," he said.

What occurs to me is the stress on homeowners who have snow laden roof without the wherewithal to remove it. The home is such a huge investment and it is possible that an act of god, in insurance company terms, may devastate financially hundreds of families.

I really feel for you guys up in the northeast!, I really do!
We had a little flurry this morning, that was it! ;)

Lab,

You birds have had WAY more than your share. I'm in a T shirt today. Hope you have an adequate stash of Thomas English Muffins. Stay warm and safe up there, all of ya.

I feel for you labworm, I've only known Central Texas, where I am in shorts getting the garden ready. It'll be a different story later this summer when it's over 100 degrees.

On Saturday...may go and scoop about three feet. Then come back inside, wait till Sunday, then go back out and scoop another three feet...

Same thing for Monday...At that rate, you'll be done before you know it, with out giving your self a trip to the cardiac unit.:D

Oh...have some dollar bills on hand for the pizza delivery guy.:D.:D.:D

Cold is the word for the next couple days. The temp dropped like arjay on the ice as the front rolled in today.

I just got in from walking the dogs and it's bitter and the wind is starting to howl. Break out the scarf and hat labworm it's headed your way my friend.

Way back when I was a kid, you know, when the earth was flat, as I tell my 20 year old son, we just called it "winter". Days were short, it was cold, and it snowed. Now, it is comical watching the weather geeks, newsies, and frankly, anyone who stands in front of a microphone, repeat, ad nauseam, that it is cold, and it's snowing. If you love the 4 seasons, like we have here in the Commonwealth, well then, you just deal with it. You shovel, plow, drive and generally make due. Hale and hearty folks, we New Englanders. Retirement certainly helps, to be sure, but lugging firewood has become my new daily grind. So, another foot is coming friday-saturday, and it will sit atop the 4 ft we already have. So be it. Haul the wood, plow the driveway, and settle back and maybe the NFL Network will run the Superbowl again. Life is good.

Labworm I feel your pain. We don't have that much snow here but it is going to be real cold over the weekend. The forecast is for highs of 8 and lows below zero until next Thursday. We did have a winter like yours end of 78 to early 79,lots of snow a few county roads had to opened with heavy equipment. Stay warm and safe.

That is a ditto on the Thomas English Muffins. The one essential food item if you get snowed in or otherwise trapped in your home for awhile. Down here we keep a supply on hand during hurricane season.

Hey, labworm! I'm right with ya! Two shearpins down, two to go!
I usually don't break ANY.
But the plows cut really close to the curb Monday, and dug up some really ugly compacted ice crapp
which was flung up and over the 3+ foot wall at the edge of the curb. That was one pin.
The other broke on a bit of cement which came from I don't know where.

Which reminds me, gotta go to Sears tomorrow and remember to bring the bag with the part number.
Because the youngsters there are somewhat clueless.

Same here. I busted one pin clearing the muck at the end of the driveway and then 20 minutes later lost another helping my neighbor when my blower sucked up a newspaper he failed to bring in before the snow fell. :what: That was the first time in years that I broke a pin. And two in one day none the less.

Throw a $20.00 down and grab a dozen.;)

I hear you, Lab.

Glad I have this old beast to take care of it. This was from 2008, but the depth is about the same today, maybe more.

I think it's snowed everyday for the last 2 weeks. Looks like 12-18" this weekend with 40-50mph winds. I had to shovel the garage roof, the wind made a drift that was shoulder deep.

My neighbor sent me a text saying he had pneumonia and asked if I'd do his yard, so the old girl has been getting quite a workout.

I'm getting sick of driving in it. I have about 100 mile RT to work & back, half I95, half back roads. I prefer back roads to get away from the fools who don't know how to drive in it.

Ah well, come July we'll be bitchin' about the heat. :D

I have never heard of the Stormy Kromer hat, never.

Someone mentioned them in a thread here at the forum, I checked them out and purchased two, the first one was about a 1/4 too small, I gave it to my Doctor. The second was a perfect fit.

We do learn a lot of things here at the S&W Forum.;)

Ive always wanted a stormy cromer and a pair of ll bean boots. Pure class. I did buy a pair of rubbe bottom leathet top boots from an outfit that sells overstock in their bargain barn stuff, right next to the gun library. Those asian made boots leaked like a pair of converse tennis shoes. Regurned them for a refund. They said how an we ell if they leak. I said fill them with water and set them on your lap.

Some day il get the real thing. Wont be for a while. Collebe kids now think they are cool and keep them bought out.
