Some of the roads have been closed and the old kitchen radio is warning everybody to stay home if they don't have to travel. As a result, some of our kids didn't make it up to the ol' homestead for Thanksgiving today. Discretion is the better part of valor. It's better to have 'em safe.

One son and his wife and kids made it up here last night, just as it started coming down hard. We probably have a good two feet on the ground. Got at least 15 or 16 inches last night. Another big storm is supposed to come in tomorrow.

On the bright side, we've got plenty of food, plenty of wood, plenty of beds and blankets, and plenty of gas for the generator just in case we lose power. The livestock are all set, too, with plenty of hay and grain in the barn.

A few of the neighbors were out early this morning with our tractors, ATV's and snow plows clearing everybody's driveways. Finally, about 1:30, we got everyone dug out. Passed the word that if anyone couldn't get to their Thanksgiving destination that to come on over. We'd be eating around three o'clock.

Ms. Judy has got everything so well organized. She's got the whole crew busy playing games, staying warm by the fire, and just plain having a great time.

The whole place smells great. Anyway, just thought I'd take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving. You're a great bunch and I thoroughly enjoy the friendships I've made here on the forum over the years.:)

We received about 8" at my place in Albuquerque.

I didn't need to go anywhere, but the daughter and grandsons had to drive across town. They made it ok, we had a nice meal, and now the boys are heading over to their dad's place. Tomorrow will probably be worse once things have melted a bit and re-freeze.

I've never seen snow on Thanksgiving day and only once on Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Well... I only saw snow once. It snowed for about 20 minutes 12 years ago*. It was in February. I think I'm good for the rest of my life.:D

Edit. I know folks who travell thousands of miles to go meet the snow.

Not me. I'll just stay put and be on the ready in case it creeps on me.:D

Edit 2 * The other time it snowed before that was in 1941. My father was 9 years old.:D

Americans doing what Americans do.

God bless you and Happy Thanksgiving.

Had snow yesterday, the "weather wizards" claim 8.5 inches but look more like 12 to me.
Daughter & family were planning to come tomorrow for the remainder of the weekend but that is in a holding pattern for now, forecast of freezing rain in the morning. Ugh!

Sounds and looks like a great Western Thanksgiving! We didn’t get that much snow here but lots of wind and drifting. Roads were mostly closed. That’s OK. Our son, the deputy sheriff, is working but he came by for dinner and our granddaughter is here and all is good. Ate so much I feel like I’m gonna pop. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Chip, from my clan to yours; happy Thanksgiving.

We are taking our blessings on the road.

Sometimes things don't go as planned. Dinner took longer to prepare than anticipated and Ruthie missed it and had to scoot out as she is working 50 beds with 3 aides from 7 till 7. We are packing up enough to feed a platoon and are going to surprise them with a midnight visit.

This'll earn me some points.
