So how cold is it outside?

A bit nippy on the friskies, as they used to say. Highs this week have been in the 40s and 50s. Lows in the low 30s and upper 20s. It's supposed to continue through Christmas with the exception of Monday which for some reason has a projected high of 63 (about normal for here this time of year). Geez. . . Thursday's low is projected at 17. That's COLD for us.

But it's a dry cold.

Close to a foot of accumulated snow on the ground here, and low temps in the low teens, high temps around freezing every day.
Winter sucks.

Our lows recently are between 10 and 15 degrees at about 8200' in the Sierras.

The pic was taken during a potent storm last weekend that dropped about 3 feet of snow. So far this season we've had about 11 feet. Local knowledge claims it's easier to dig out than in, which is true.

In the pic I've just started the snow blower and I'm aiming at 2 sons that have retreated to a safe distance out of range. This is the opening salvo of an epic snow fight. My grandson Gus-in the picture next to the buried car- is about to choose sides and climb on the roof of the car and shove snow on me. He'll soon be joined by more grand kids in the attack on "Geezer".

Thursdays forecast is for -32 F low and -3 F for a high. The tickets still remain for a long walk uphill for a candle light tour at a local State Park Cavern. Some guides will make that trip twice and inside the cave be at a balmy 55 F.

We're into the -teens at night and single digits during day. Had about 1.5 foot of snow, it's snowing again today and wed. We have already transitioned to clearing off roofs.
