So I got to go to a Buc-Ees. Hmmm

Buc-ees Big Mistake is No Place To Eat. Granted they don't want the hassle of indoor dining but outside pole barn cover with picnic tables would do.
Every one I've been in (6) has Plenty of cashiers so no idiot standing there trying to " decide" on anything. The low life's that block gas pumps are just that as no reasons. Cashiers actually raise their hand to get folks to an empty spot.
IMHO Buc- ees beats Walmart hands down for seeing " strangely dressed"people, I'll leave it that, lol.

Please explain the arcane practice some suggest of paying cash at a gas station.:confused::confused: I thought that went out with cross-ply tires.

The old one was supposed to be the original from what I heard. It was going to be turned into a museum but burned down sometime last year.

With Buc-ees "biggest" is a relative term as each new one seems to be larger than the previous one.

I've been a fan of Buc-ee's since they opened the first "big" one in Luling in 2003. Yes - the restrooms were great then too.

The new "biggest" one opened in Luling this summer next to the 20 year old store which is being torn down.

This year in my travels I have visited several Buc-ee's in Texas, Alabama, Missouri and Georgia. All of them were ultra busy when I was there.

Parking in front of the one ethanol free pump should be a flogging offense.

Too gentle.

Parking at a pump should be a Game of Thrones behavior modification program offense. (Heads, pikes, walls.) If businesses would protect the interests of the decent people by towing anyone who stays at a pump for 15 seconds longer than it takes to buy fuel, or who leaves their vehicle unattended at the pump for any time at all, the world would be a better place.

When my wife and I travel, whoever needs the bathroom first goes in while the other pumps fuel. We swap roles if the fuel is not done when the first comes out of the building. If we are really lucky with the process, the dogs get taken to a proper spot to pee while finishing the fueling. If not, one of us moves the car and the dogs are taken out while the second person hits the bathroom. If we want drinks or something, person #2 gets them during the dogs' pee break. Any other protocol is too inconsiderate for others.

If when we move the car it is too hot for the dogs (about 60 if sunny), it gets locked up and left running so there is AC. We have cheater keys just like cops, and if someone wants to try to steal a car with 2 Rottweilers in it, well, their estate can pay for service master call.

This will change when we start using the RV, which will have 300 gallon of diesel and 23 of DEF, but only in the details.

For extreme times, absolutely, but in general life I like to swipe, pump, pull out, either to a parking spot for shopping or back on my way.

I will agree that Buc-Ees keep their toilets immaculate. That is quite achievement in itself.

We have one in our town. Buc-Ees hornswaggled the rubes on our city council into paying no city taxes for many years, claiming that all the bidness they'd bring to the city would offset the lack of taxes they'd pay. They've brought plenty of bidness alright, along with huge traffic congestion at their intersection with the freeway access road. Traffic can back up nearly a quarter mile at times on both north- and southbound access roads waiting to get through a traffic light that serves Buc-Ees' entrance drive. I avoid that area like the plague, and as a result, I have never been to Buc-Ees so I can't comment on their store. I can get fuel and decent brisket elsewhere.

We do not yet have a Buc-ees in San Antonio, at least not that I am aware of. Closest one is about 30 miles north of my house on I-35. Have stopped there a few times, not within the last 5 years. All I ever did was get fill-ups, never went inside, so I can't comment on anything else.

But what most people havent figured out yet is that Buc-ees is for cars and pickup trucks only!! The only tractor trailers that are allowed on the property is for their deliveries only. I dont know if the have excluded RVs yet but watch out they might have. Loves is a Truck stop for Semis and cars. I have stopped and dont really care for it but they do have tons of jerky also.

Good luck for anybody that stops.

The big signs at the entrances to the parking lots are what I call "a hint."

It might just be that for the amount of space they take up in the lots, the drivers don't spend a lot of money. Plus, there is no place to take showers as there is at real truck stops.

I don't believe that they've banned RVs, since the people in those probably spend a fair amount.

The one we went to was next to I-75 in Melissa.

Where's the joy in pulling up, stick a card in the pump, pump your gas, and go?

When you can:
1) block a pump
2) go inside and wait in line
3) give the clerk some cash
4) pump gas
5) continue to block the pump while you...
6) wait in line AGAIN to get your change
7) and finally leave.
