So you're thinking about getting into reloading...

Thanks for the links everyone! I've tried to add the related reloading links to the original post.

Forestwin, the LASC appeared to be more related to casting itself. Which has me wondering if a similar "So you're thinking about getting into casting..." thread.

The original post may get overrun if I start adding accessory reviews: scales, priming tools, powder measures, trimmers, case cleaners etc. Not sure what the consensus is.

^^^^^^ This.

Too much other good information is too much. Hasn't been that long since I started. I benefited (in a twisted way) from not being able to buy anything at first. Made me do my research. My vote is keep this thread focused on new reloader.

$0.02 :p

Forget about " saving money" that's a myth we tell our wives when we buy more reloading stuff. After 40 years of buying reloading gear you would think I would have it all. Wrong, you never stop finding things you " need" or " must have". It's an addiction that never ends.
But as my wife says ...It keeps you off the streets and out of trouble so go enjoy yourself.

uhm, after reading this post I have this "sticky" feeling....

Great post! :D

They all get the job done, I load rifle ammo on a RCBS Rock Chucker, I load all my pistol. and 223 Rem on a Dillon XL650 because I like the speed of making a lot of ammo.

You do realize he created an entire series of these, sub-system by sub-system, to help people identify and overcome issues they may run into??? He is intentionally doing this for instruction.

You're the first I've heard to not think this series is well done and a good aid. As a serious suggestion, you should maybe provide specific feedback to his videos for improvement.

I personally learned a lot from watching the entire series before buying any press. I watched similar videos for other vendors as well.

OMG, that guy had more trouble in a half hour than I've had in my 40 years of reloading, all my presses combined.

Watching that makes a guy want to claw his eyes out.

Sticky.

But you just jump in and get going and then the first thing you know you will have more and better set ups.

My first system was one of those starter RCBS sets back in the 1980s. While it was ok it really didnt get me started and I just kept shooting factory. But a buddy and I did get some Dillon equipment to load handgun so it kept me active.

Then later when I built this house I got more committed to loading primarily for the accuracy reasons and so I would not have to be in line for ammo if stocks became tight. Both of those worked out. There is a lot of good equipment out there today. You just need more equipment and storage space if you have more than 2 or 3 calibers.
