Some of my favorite things. What are yours?

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
And a dirty martini with two olives.

I am not touchy feely nor poetic. Although I am sure I and everyone else has small things in life that we like.
Probley odd to most everyone but me the most satisfied I get is simply driving! I have been that way all my life. I have always been at my happiest and most content driving anything. I use to fly, lived on motorcycles, now its ATVs when I can, but if nothing else just driving 50 miles to the next town for a sandwich!
This morning I pulled into loves truck stop and a old woman was pulling out driving a semi and I almost bawled! That should be me.
I would have been happy as a long haul truck driver or a airline pilot. Probley would have got killed and God saw to it I wasnt. I retired young with the idea that I was going to take the summer off, go to truck driving school in the fall and start driving the next january. Had it all planned out in detail. About september after I already retired and just before I was going to truck driving school, I got a pulmonary embolism and the doctor told me no way could I drive for a living! I trapped myself into retiring and under company rules couldnt go back on my job! I never would have retired when I did if I could have looked down the road at that time. Everything has a purpose I guess. There is another thread going this morning about a guy putting his mother in a rest home. As luck would have it the same happened to me and my dad. He came down with alzheimers and I had to go home and live with him and settle his affairs. I would have had to retire a couple months later anyway.
Anyway I love driving anything with a engine and going anywhere.
See what I mean?

And how lucky I have been to have had incredibly good parents to get me started out on the right foot in life.

Now if you had asked me to name the number one thing or person I DON'T like, I would get dinged by the moderators once again. I'll be good. Honest. Period.

Hiking up a mountain ridge to a breathtaking view. Maybe I'll tote my camera up there with me this summer so I can share it with the forum.
Doing things with my wife, hiking, mountain biking or floating down a lazy river on an inner tube drinking beer on a hot summer day followed by grillin' meat in my back yard drinkin' more beer.
It's beautiful out here. Can't wait for summer to get here and it's time to go out and play again.
