Greetings!
I have been eyeing used the used Model 10 market for a while, since the standard 4” K-frame .38 is a glaring hole in my collection. The recent gun shows in Denver have proven fruitless, with only the occasional overpriced and tired Model 10/15 languishing in a sea of polymer and strikers. I was even thinking about getting one from Buds’s, but I knew that since I could not pick it myself, something would probably make me unhappy with the purchase.
During a weekly sweep of the LGS, I spotted almost “as new” Model 10 sitting on the shelf. Even though this shop has proven very fruitful over the past few years, I was still shocked to see the tag showing $299. After about 5 minutes of “checkouts”, I realized that I had a gem consisting of an essentially new Model 10-7 in my hands. Needless to say, paperwork began immediately, and the revolver has a warm and safe new home. The serial number is 4D145XX- Anybody have a rough birth date?
I often wonder what the story is with these older, unused firearms- A widow getting rid of her late husband’s home defense gun? Unappreciative children cleaning out Dad’s “scary junk”? Somebody supposedly “upgrading” to a hi-cap semi auto for security duties? A collector thinning the herd?
I have only fired it a few times so far, but hope to put it through its paces with both standard and +P loads in the near future. Sorry for the bad pics, but my Droid does not take the best photos.
Happy times!
Thanks,
Hunter
