If you could design a speedloader, how would it work and what would it look like?

It would work and look like a Jet Loader.

It would look something like the spiral magazine on a Calico M950 and hold 50+ rounds!

I don't think I could improve on the moon clip. It's really fast and easy to use, and with a BMT mooner, easy to load and unload. All revolvers should be built for them.

If you're talking rim-fire, I did, it's push to fill and push to load and here's what they look like: DS-10-SPEED | Speed loaders for 10 shot S&W 617, Ruger GP100, 8 shot S&W, Ruger LCR, made in the USA .
This method doesn't work well for center-fire rounds, they are too heavy and fall out easy.

If you're talking center-fire, I like moon clips , Jet or Safariland loaders.

Very hard to reinvent that.

Anyway I've never been a great fan of speed loaders my new revolver is cut for moon clips and I ordered some made out of polymer, doesn't require any tools to load or unload them. We will see how they work out. Other then that I've always just carried speed strips, easy to carry and convenient.
