When I posted about a recent find in the hand ejector forum one of the respondants suggested that it was a little unusual due to its square butt. Poking around on the web and rereading the model 36 section of the SCSW leads me to think he's right. Square butts seem to be most prevelent on 3" barreled j-frames, how rare or unusual is this square butt variation?

I've got one just like it that I bought new in 1975. They are not rare, just a lower percentage of them made simular to nickel ones. May be worth a $25-50 premium to someone who really wants one.

Here is a square butt M36. I think they are better for shooting but they give up a little
when concealed.

I have a sq butt 36, didnt seem rare but am sure many more rbs were sold

my 3" 36's, one is rb, other sq

regardless they are all great guns

Here is SE PA I see 50% of each for sale.
Not many nickel ones though.

I have a square butt 34 and 37, which i prefer for shooting, on K frames as well as J frames. My 36 and 60 are round butt, wish they were square. Maybe i will look into those conversion grips.
