I just now read an article that now most stolen guns were taken from cars, not from residences or businesses. No big surprise here. But it also mentioned that thieves looked for cars with bumper stickers and decals advertising firearms brands and right to bear arms slogans as being very likely to have a firearm in the console or glove compartment. I never thought about this before but it makes sense to me.

Concealed is meant to mean that you have the element of surprise in the case of an emergency. Kinda hard to go unnoticed with your sig sauer or glock perfection stickers in the back window. USCCA stickers are kind of a hard one since most of the non-gun buying public has no idea what that means or stands for, but having a gun brand sticker in the window is not a great idea.

Also, as we visit ranges and gun stores, give your car a once over for marks and the like that were not there before.
It's been said that some tag cars in the lot.
When in the wild, they look for the marked cars as high score probability targets.

I do not:

Put gun club stickers on my car.

Put NRA stickers on windows or put hats in the rear window

I do not put stickers on my house indicating firearms inside

These are good ways to get your vehicle broken into, get your car paint keyed, tires flattened etc.

You want the element of surprise on your side

Word is that cars with Wyoming tags are likely targets in Colorado, especially in the Denver area, the thinking being there will likely be a gun on board. I don’t have any stickers but they won’t let me lose the doggone plate!

Several cars in my neighborhood had items stolen from them. None had gun related decals. None of ours with NRA stickers were bothered. Ours were locked, the ones hit were not. Go figure.

They look for unlocked cars. Stickers or not, they don’t care. Stickers only give them an idea of what to look for.

We have had a lot of locked cars broken into and/or stolen in this area in the last couple of years. A locked car is not a secure place to keep a gun.

Everybody doesn't know this by now? Color me shocked.

Maybe coming from the big city and my father's employment by the UK government makes me a bit more aware of PERSEC than most on here. My car is locked if I cannot touch it. My car is locked if I'm pumping gas and on my own. My car is locked on my property, even in the garage. I don't leave a gun in a car overnight. I don't have neighborhood vanity plates like some do. I remove dealer decals or number plate advertising the second I get home with a new vehicle.

If it were up to me, I wouldn't carry a copy of the car registration, insurance, or anything else in my car with my address on it. It's placing personal information in an insecure place, a car.

Am curious - are the guns in vehicles because they're a "truck gun" always on board, or left temporarily while the owner is visiting either a "no guns" store or government designated "gun free zone"?

I have no gun stickers on my vehicle, but I've gotten into the habit of wearing an OWB looped holster in case I happen to be going into such a place. Or after a breakfast of biscuits and gravy and a strong cup of coffee.

Several years ago I had a NRA sticker on my truck, I was going to Nova Scotia salmon fishing going across the border they asked me if I had any firearms in the truck, I said no they asked me a few other questions and asked me again if I had any firearms again I said no, they pulled me over to the side and searched my truck and didn't find anything,he asked if I didn't have any firearms why did I have a NRA sticker on my truck, I told him to turn me around, I will go spend my money in NH.

Me and a couple buddies went to Victoria, Canada for the 4th of July weekend one year. On the way up we stopped at the reservation and bought some fireworks. At the border Canadian authorities searched our car and confiscated the fireworks. They even held the ferry, in case we were not allowed in. After they gave my friend a receipt for the contraband, they sent us on our way. I told the others that we would get them in next time. How? I would find the car ahead of us on the ferry and I would put NRA and "I will give up my gun......" stickers on the back. Too busy searching them to worry about us. We never did go back, though.

LOL, every LEO in Montana figures everyone with Montana plates has a gun on board.

I see all kinds of gun stickers and actual guns where I live I do not hear of many stolen guns. I see cars with the keys in them, some of them running. There was 1 stolen car in the county last year. I would however NOT want to be caught inside someone else's car. You mileage will vary in some areas of the state, Mostly the places been overrun by left coast refugees. Billings, Bozeman, Missoula, Kalispell, Anywhere near an interstate raises the risk.

It is terrible that free men live in fear of showing their freedoms and beliefs. That will certainly not help their cause.

If I was a gun thief I would surveil gun stores, ranges, sporting goods stores, look for dirty trucks, fishing poles BOOO

Anyone stop to think that more guns are stolen from cars with gun stickers than without simply because a higher percentage those rigs had guns in them? A thief will break into any car, sticker, no sticker and take what they find. I think most of you give car prowlers way to much credit in the thinking and planning department. Where your car is and the type of car etc has every bit as much to do with it as any sticker.

Now the only time I leave my carry gun in my truck is when going to the police station to get fingerprint cards done.
